No trv stamp confusion

My parents came to Canada in July. Their passport wasn't stamped for trv (probably its a new norm) we are planning to visit USA in the month of November for 5 days.

Does visiting usa extend the trv for another 6 months?

Would it be fine to ask the visa officer at the border during our usa visit about the stamping and length of stay remaining?

Please help me with my questions.

Yes going to the US starts the clock again. It will be up to CBSA whether they are admitted and for how long. You can certainly ask but they won't necessarily give you what you ask for. Your parents are still visitors so they will have to return to their home country sooner rather than later.
