Just state the reason/s why you never traveled. You can say you focused on your studies or your career.

We're talking travel outside your own country here :D

You don't have to worry. There are many people in the history of the world who have gone to other countries for the very first time ... and had become successful and famous!

You have to understand that VO is looking for a reason to refuse you even if he suspects that you will not return back to your home country. So, you have to give him reason not to. I can provide you with some of the things. For that, you need to show that you have strong ties back in your home country.

- Family Ties : You have to make sure you tell in your SOP that you have strong family ties in your home country (only home country). Properties under your name or family members / family business in your home country will provide strong reason for you to come back and handle business affairs in your family. You must avoid mentioning any relatives who are in Canada already as this is quite unnecessary in relation to your studies. Stay away from this topic as this would cast doubts in VO's mind straight away.

- Financial Stability : You have to understand how they calculate this. For all of Canada (except Quebec) Tuition plus $10,000 for a 12-month period (or $833 per month). In Quebec, Tuition plus $11,000 for a 12-month period (or $917 per month). So, calculate your financials accordingly (Source)

- Job Guarantee : If you have worked somewhere and can get a letter from your employer stating that they would love to have you back because you were an asset to them. This will act as a security for your future that you have good standing in your home country and would be coming back to take this job.

For more details (such as Elderly Parents, etc), Look at : Home Ties Guide/How Do You Establish Close Ties to Home?/Summary

Hope this would help!

Hi nidhi777,

Don't worry about it. I'll show you a couple of samples which you can use as a guidance (do not copy it). This would make you understand what SOP should include (and there's hardly any mentioning of family or relatives)

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/need-help-with-statement-of-purpose-t203369.0.html;msg3140415#msg3140415

Try to make your case strong by only mentioning your family and your ties from your home country. You basically need to prove that you have strong family ties back home. If you put emphasis on your family members already in Canada, this would make VO suspect that you are planning to join your relatives (thus, refusing applicant). Since there are other programs already in place (i.e. Family sponsorship), CIC want you to follow that route if have your family in Canada.

Is your sister financially sponsoring you for your studies in Canada? And what is her status? As long as you do not lie on Application Forms about your siblings (family), and on SOP, focus more on yourself, program you are going for in Canada and your parents back home taking care of your finances, you are good to go. Telling stories about your family members already in Canada in your SOP is what I am trying to tell not to do.

Try reading this thread for Student visa rejections based on declaring family ties in Canada : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/visa-rejection-for-student-visa-because-of-having-family-in-canada-t7477.0.html

It's not considered wrong to have family in Canada and it's not your fault but when applying for a student visa, you have to prove that you will return to your home country when your visa expires. Lack of ties to your home country as well as family in Canada may contribute to CIC believing that you do not intend to leave Canada when your visa expires.

Just received my passport few month ago when I was gathering all my document to apply for visa ! Anyway you can have passport either you travel or not !

Thank you XpresEnterprise & wandermom ! Really appreciate your help

Well if you want to join your sister for example... You don't have any option... As family sponsorship allows someone to sponsor everyone but sisters or brothers... I really don't know why... I know that because my brother is citizen in Canada and have talked to tones of lawyers regarding this and there is no way through that path...

Hi,

Thanx for all the info.

I have a question regarding strong ties to my home country. My parents were not born in their home country, neither we did(their kids). No on of my family have ever been to our home country.

That's being said, My parents were born and raised in the country we are living in right now, So we have been here for generations, and owning a house and a business. Long story short, we used to be a kind of half citizen of the country we are living in(having passports but not a family book), few years back the renewal of the passports were denied(don't ask why, it is a strange world we are living in :'( ), and the country we are living in issued us a passport from a country we know nothing about which supposed to be our home country !!! LOOOL ::)

So How to show strong ties to my home country ?, I don't want to confuse the visa officer, and definitely don't want to tell the whole thing. now we had to issue a visa for the first time ever, and it should be renewed every three years, how this will affect my case?.

Another thing about Financial Stability, does tuition fees that I have to show include all the university fees like medical insurance, books, etc. or only the tuition?, and should it be for the first year or for the whole period like 4 years. is showing 15k in the bank account enough for affordable university ?. Me and my brother are planning to go, can we have a joint account with 30k in it?, or each one should have his own bank account?, or should we make it under my mother's name ? (as if my mother is paying for both of us), just incase she wanted to visit us, she will be able to show the bank statement for a visitor visa

I would greatly appreciate any help

For what I understand from CIC you should prove you have money enough to pay for your tuition + 10,000 CAD for your first-year living there (THIS IS AT LEAST... IF YOU SHOW MORE IS BETTER) .. So I think you should prove to have at least 30-35K CAD.. you don't need only bank statements.. You can also show bank account reports... Prove of owning cars and properties... How much the person who is sponsoring you earns monthly and so on...

This is from CIC:

You must prove that you can support yourself and the family members who accompany you while you are in Canada. You can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Canada by showing some of the following:

proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution;your bank statements for the past four months;a bank draft in convertible currency;proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees;a letter from the person or institution providing you with money; andproof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.
