Ok, successfully got my work permit at the border today. I had with me:

My PNP nomination certificate and support letter
My AOR for my PR application
The A.... number from the employer portal
My job offer
Common law documentation for my spouse
Current work permit

I got a closed permit and my spouse got an open permit, both 2 years.

Took about 25 minutes, no hassles.

Congrats, ozlis!

I am not from a visa exempt country, so I have to apply by mail or online.

But it's so nice that you shared your experience, thank you again, ozlis!

Hi everyone,

I am looking to get a LMIA-exempt Temporary Work Permit (via NAFTA) .

The employer is in the process of registering with the CIC Employer Portal. They were able to complete the first step of the Employer Portal Guide: "Get your credential to access the portal". After logging in, they completed the next step: "Complete an enrolment request". It looks like the enrolment request was submitted (the Portal gives an application number along with a submission date); however, they have not been informed whether or not the request has been approved (per the CIC website, an email should be sent after the request has been processed).

The enrolment request was submitted on December 29 and there still has been no email. The employer has called the CIC several times; the general response is that the CIC representative is unable to view or access the enrolment request. On the last call, the representative instructed to log a "technical issue" by sending an email to the CIC. The employer sent an email describing the technical issue; still awaiting a response.

Feeling pretty dead in the water. There appears to be no transparency in the process. Not sure what to expect (how long to process? was there something wrong with the enrolment request?).

Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Have any recommendations on how to proceed (who to contact, alternative actions)?

Any help is greatly appreciated; thanks in advance!

Hi,

any idea how long did it take your employer to complete that first step?

Thank you

May I confirm: do we need to wait for some kind of email from CIC confirming the employer succesfully registered (enrolled) in the portal (so that they can proceed with submitting a job offer for me), or is this automatic: they set up their account and are able immediately to proceed with submitting a job offer? Or do we need to wait until some kind of confirmation of registration comes? If so,how long did you wait?

It is pretty automatic - we got an email but I had already done the next step by that stage.

So I got my checklist for my WP extension (same employer) but it seems to include the Employer Questionnaire and Declaration form, which indeed was required last year, but this year I can't find it anywhere! does that mean it's a system glitch, or is the form available somewhere? Help :/

Hi ozlis,
I got my nomination last week, and I'm trying to get the work-permit like you did.

- nomination certificate and support letter : have this
- My AOR for my PR application : don't have this
- The A.... number from the employer portal : don't have this yet, planning to do
- My job offer : have this
- Common law documentation for my spouse : have this
- Current work permit : have this

My understanding was, I would need the LMIA exempt fee receipt if I don't have the AOR for the PR application.
As you know getting the AOR for the PR itself taking pretty long time.

So I was planning to pay the LMIA exempt fee before I visiting the border.
However looks like you had both.

Can you tell me how long did it take to get the AOR for the PR application and number from the employer portal?
And Am I missing something?

Thank you
