No response from CIC 7-8 weeks - visitor online application

Hi,

I submitted visitors visa application for my parents on May 23rd 2019. I submitted it online (CIC portal)
The biometrics were provided in Bangalore, India on May 29th. I can see the biometrics details captured when I login into the CIC account.

I have not seen any updates to the application since May 29th. Application status has remained the same since then "We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you"

The processing time for India is 13 business days. My application has crossed that timeline and I have no idea how to get in touch with CIC to check for updates.

I tried the following
1. Call Canadian CIC call centre from Canada - They were unable to access the information as the application was submitted outside of Canada
2. Called VFS call centre India - Unable to access the information as the application was submitted online
3. Submitted enquiry using webform https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx . - It has been 1 month, still no response

Is there anything I can try to get in touch with CIC or get them to process my application sooner ?

You can try applying for the GCMS notes. This takes a month, but sometimes the act of applying seems to make the application move quicker. This is not guaranteed, of course.

When you get the GCMS notes you'll be able to see why the application is stuck. Maybe they are doing an extensive background check/security screening on your parents for some reason.

Also, if you are a Canadian citizen or PR, you can go to your local MP's office. They can ask IRCC about this. They usually don't get involved for simple cases, but there's no harm in going and asking. Worst case they'll say they can't help.

I am a PR. Let me try this option as well. I will be sure to post my experience with this option. Thanks for your suggestions.

This suggestion really helped! I got the request for passport in 15 mins of submitting the application for GCMS notes. Thank you so much!

Hi guys please help me as well i have applied visitor visa on 6 June from dubai online on CIC website 9 June my biometrics was done and updated for 10 years after that since now there is no response at all everyday i keep on checking but shows your application is in progress until now its stuck in background check please help!!!

You can try the same that i did.

If you know a PR or a Citizen in canada try submitting the application for case notes through them.
