Hello all,

So I am asking one company I worked at a couple of years ago to provide me with a reference letter. I worked at that company for 3 years. One year as a paid intern and two years under contract. Unfortunately we didn't end our relationship on very good terms. They are unwilling to provide me with the reference letter although I am still trying with them.
However since this job was overseas, I do have the work permit stamp on my passport with the name of the company and even my position. And other than that I have my offer letter from the company as well as my resignation letter, both signed by the company. I never kept my pay slips.
Can I submit those as a proof for my professional work history?
I would really rather not remove this experience from my work history, at least my contract period with the company which was for two years and definitely will add up to my work experience.

Thank you guys.

IF your company cant provide the best options are:

1) Any old colleague willing to give a letter to prove your role and experience. You could notarize that and add offer letter and visa against that as proofs
2) If not, you could try giving an explanation letter with visa and offer letter as proof. But a light chance that you may get inquiries later.

The first option is a good alternative. If you have any other 3 years exp that can be proved then this is not necessary at all.

I'm not sure.. It wasn't really a good company. I survived there for 3 years because I needed the job but most of the my other colleagues would leave the company in 2 or 3 months after joining. So I didn't get close to anyone to stay in touch with..
What about some reference letters from clients? I am still in touch with a couple of them that I think they wouldn't mind to write a reference letter for me. Would that work you think?

Its all about how well you can convince the officer who is handling your file. You can find any method which finds conceivable for you.
For me, i did not received the required details in letter from company. So i used offer letter, promotion letters, visa documents etc to prove my roles and responsibilities. It worked out.

That's great.. I have everything you mentioned except for promotion letters. I remembered I also do have my employment card which was issued by the government since I was working there. I believe I can provide that.
I hope if anyone else had been in a similar position to share with me too how was it taken?

The Offer letter does include my duties, salary and working hours.. so it's good enough?
I don't think so. They need to know if you have worked with that job duties for the whole tenure with the company. Can't you get a coworker write the letter for you? Co-worker letter + offer letter makes great proof, but just offer letter alone may be risky.

there really isn't.. I didn't get close to anyone there and I didn't stay in touch either.. and none of my colleagues stayed in that company for long.. they would all get hired and resign from the company two or three months later..
I do have a resignation letter two years after my offer letter which should prove that I worked there through these two years.. that besides my two years work permit visa.
I didn't keep the salary slips but I did keep my income taxes forms.. are these good at all?
I feel so depressed.. sigh.. I will try to talk to the company again.. at this point i am begging really..

It's good enough only if you can also submit a letter (don't they have email?) from the company that they've declined your request for a reference letter.
Your first option should always be the employer, and you have to have shown effort that you tried getting a letter from them. You have to have a good enough reason to submit letters from clients or a self-written letter.

You mean attach my email and LOE?
Yeah, if they emailed you by declining a request.
(I also appended my previous post.)
That's what a relative did when their previous employer also declined...they submitted the offer letter with those details and an LOE that their request was rejected. Checked the GCMS notes (PR app still pending), and it was accepted by the IRCC officer for the NOC experience.

They didn't reply my email so I have been whatsapping my boss. I will think about it.. Thank you for your help.
I may just delete it from my work experience.. It will lower my score to 449.. I will think about it and ask my employer again..

I'm not sure if client letters work as primary evidence for employment. If you are left with no option, then you could use them. Definitely better than offer letter alone. Make sure you cover your whole experience with those letters.
