Just wanted to see how many people actually read this post despite the Subject only being "help". (obviously I have since changed the subject...some people are just too up tight).

Hope everyone is having a smooth PR process (or sponsorship for those still at that stage of the process).

Have a fantastic weekend everyone :)

Re: Helllppppp!!!

Huh? Clearly you are not here for help. When you actually need it, I hope that someone does read.

Re: Helllppppp!!!

Don't tell me I am not here for help, I most certainly am. I am an active member on this forum and offer help if/when I can. Someone had made a post saying if you don't put a "proper" subject line, people don't read it. I wanted to see if that was true or not because I know I read many posts without a subject line with a question in it. So, please don't tell me what my intent is on here.

Cheers :)

People do read it, and get upset, rightfully, when it turns out to be like this. Ask a "proper" question, get a "proper" answer. This is a prime example of why someone asked for the real subject to be posted in the topic. By not posting a proper subject line, this is what you get.

Re: Helllppppp!!!

Upsetting people is certainly not my goal....I am trying to prove a point...that you don't need to put a "proper" subject line....you can say "help" and people will read your question, or you can put any one worded subject line and have people interested enough to read. I read all posts, whether they apply to me or not in order to help if I can, and if I can't I just don't say anything.

If you are upset by this, that is on you not me. I'm a happy, generally positive person on this forum and I love to meet new people.

If you are going through sponsorship/PR...I wish you the best of luck :)

Re: I've proved my point...

I wish I could give you back the last 30 seconds of your life...lol.

I truly wasn't being malicious in posting this...I was just curious to know how many people actually do read posts without specific subject lines.

Re: I've proved my point...

Hahaha dont worry be happy.Chill out people its just a post like it or not.Like i said before read the post if you dont like it move on,if you answer or post in the thread you want someone to comment.Just chill out have a drink. There are a lot of other things in this process to stress about than a post.
Tomorrow you will forget all about it.

Re: I've proved my point...

Haha Iarblue...I agree. It's not like I was being mean, rude, cruel or degrading anyone. Anyway...I think I'll move on now.

just gave you a plus rating cuz I know you are good peeps. Though I do like a detailed subject line just for the record. LOL!

Re: I've proved my point...

It was I who suggested that people indicate what their post was about by writing more precise subject lines. I did so because I (and I assume at least a few others) don’t read every post, and a more precise subject line would help us decide which posts to read (we’ll read posts because we might be able to help, or because we are interested in others’ answers).

Now it is true that some people read all posts, no matter how vague the subject lines. But if that is the “point” you proved, put the Champagne back because that point was never at issue.

What IS at issue is this: if experts don’t open a post because the subject line is too vague to tell them what the post was really about, and the experts are too hurried to open every post, then the poster has missed out on some valuable advice.

No one can (yet) say that vague subject lines do or do not not inhibit readership. We’d have to poll every reader to know that. So until then, celebrations about points proved are premature.
