Please could you help me? I immigrated to Canada from UK with parents aged 12, became a Citizen 4 years later, but had my bag stolen with citizenship card a few years later. I moved back to UK after marrying English man in 1991, but we would now love to move to Canada with our 3 children. I believe our best route is through the family sponsorship class but I am concerned that I don't have proof of Candian citizenship and don't want to have to wait another 10 months to receive that before applying. I do have my IMM1000 form (when we immigrated and became landed immigrants) - will that be ok to send in if I am applying for spousal sponsorship OUTSIDE of Canada? Thank you

try this:

immigroup.com/citizenship/apps/REPLACEMENT%20CITIZENSHIP%20CARD%20KIT.pdf

You may get grief for having lost it so long ago and not having reported it.

Thank you for link - will phone Monday to discuss if I can get application through urgently. It's true that I should have had it replaced years ago!

It's not about "should have had it replaced" boops, it's about your DUTY to report when a government ID is lost or stolen. If you don't report it so the government knows it's been stolen, the thief can use it, either doctored up or simple as it is, and use it for illegal purposes, sell it on the black market, or commit identity theft which would hurt you later (maybe they use your identity to commit a crime, etc). The same applies and is VERY important to passports and health cards and SIN cards and birth certificates.

Keep a photocopy of everything in your wallet in a safe place at home, if it gets stolen then you should call and cancel everything.

Sorry but it makes me quite angry - it may not be your fault you were robbed but you need to act responsibly, otherwise you don't deserve the privilege of having the card/passport/whatever! I certainly don't see why they should have to process your application urgently!!!!

Actually I did report it the day I had it stolen but because I was engaged to a British man and about to move back to the UK just didn't get a replacement. However, I DID do the responsible thing and report it being missing. It never ceases to amaze me how many people come on here and make judgements about other people without knowing everything. I would like to return to Canada urgently because my father is very ill with an aortic aneurism which is like having a ticking time bomb inside you. I came on here to ask a question not to be judged

People love handing out their opinions and judgements. Some of the comments that have been made on this forum towards other members really saddens me.

However, there are many individuals on here who are capable of giving sound advice without being judgemental. I would encourage you to continue visiting this forum to ask any questions you might have. I wish you the best of luck with your citizenship card replacement and your application to husband and children.

It's not that people are judgmental as much as that they are frustrated with all the hard work and uncertainty of this process, so when someone is trying to cut corners and cheat they get upset. In this case that was obviously not true, so an apology to the OP would be in order.
