Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I have just landed in Canada as an Permanent Resident and have my Confirmation of Permanent Residence Document

I am going on Vacation on December 12th to the Bahamas via plane and I know by then I will not have a PR card as it normally takes around 45 days at the moment

I am thinking I can just arrive back at the Canadian airport boarder and show them my passport and CORP document and they will let me in, the CORP has all kinds of information such as the date I became a PR!!

I have a British passport so I am Visa Exempt

Will I have any issues coming back into Canada?

Canada’s entry requirements are changing
Starting March 15, 2016, if you are a permanent resident of Canada and a citizen of a visa-exempt country, you will need to travel with your Canadian permanent resident (PR) card or PR travel document when flying to Canada. Otherwise, you may not be able to board your flight to Canada. PRs who are citizens of visa-required countries will continue to need to show their PR card when boarding a flight to Canada.

If you are in Canada and do not have a PR card, find out how to apply for one.

If you are outside Canada and do not have a PR card or your card is expired, find out how to apply for a permanent resident travel document.

Can you please share the source?

To the OP, you shouldn't have a problem at the Canadian border.

Yes I am very aware of the changes in March

Since I have landed and applied for a PR card at the landing process I am currently waiting for my card

Does that mean they are going to stop issuing PRTD from March'2016?

Incase, I don't apply for the PR card when Landing and I want to come back to settle down after March 2016. I am not from a VISA exempt country. Can I apply for a PRTD or not?

It will make no difference to the PRTD process. Yes, you can apply for a PRTD if eligible and required.

So do I need a Travel Document if I have a UK passport?

The website doesn't state much information.

Until March 2016, with a visa-exempt passport, no.

The problem is not at the Canadian border: as a PR, they will let you in. There *may* be a problem with the airline (although it's very unusual with a Visa exempt passport & a *return* ticket to Canada). Personally, I'be never been asked for a PR card by an airline (with a v-e passport).

I think after mar 2016 either any one from visa exempt country must show pr card if he/she is a permanent resident. if not pr they can use visa exemption. But as a PR you cant use visa exemption.

But what is likely to happen when I do get to the boarder and not have my PR card?

Will they give me a lot of hassle and ask why did I leave Canada without a PR card?

I just don't want any trouble at the boarder...I have a UK passport and I hope I can just show them that and then tell them I am already a PR of Canada but just waiting for my card to arrive.

How many days are you going for vacation ?. By dec 12 you may receive your PR card. Are you going to reenter by land. This rule starts from mar 2016 by that time i hope you 'll be back in canada

Just 7 days, re-entering by plane

In 42 days of your landing your pr card wil be with you. take your pr card and travel as you like

Yes I know that however I don't think I will have my PR card in time for December 12th.

I landed on October 28th, which is a total of 45 days until I leave.. I have to hope I have the card by then
