I have received the passport request last night, and is ready to send.

There is no mentioning of photos as was in my colleague's case two months ago.

Should I send the recent photos?

I think CIC no longer requires photographs. I received my PPR with no mention of it.

The simple answer is.
1. No photos required if your PPR comes within one year of application.
2. They will ask two photos of each if your approval exceed one year
