No PCC after 7 Weeks and have to Travel to India

I have applied for PCC for me and my wife on 11th March. I have recieved the PCC on 5th April but my wife has not received it yet. My wife has to travel to India on 27th April and her passport is with CGIToronto. What should I do in that case? If I could request to return my passport, will the PCC processing will be stopped as well or it will go parallely. I sent 5-7 mails to BLS and CGI and have not received any response from them. Is there any problem with my application? We have not traveled out of Canada since our last PCC was issued so I thought there should be no problem in issuing the new one. Although I have attached copy of our previous PCC as well.

Happened to me too. Mine and my husbands PCC were not processed even after 7 weeks and we had to travel to India. My husband went to CGI directly and asked them about the status. Told them that we have to travel to india and showed them our tickets too. The person told him that our application will be processed that day and sent to VFS Brampton (this was when VFS was the agency and not BLS) by tomorrow.

I would suggest go to CGI directly with your ticket and ask them to process your application.

Then I think i should go to CGI directly. This new BLS is not good. Their customer care is never reachable and email bounces with error.

Eitherway since my visits to these places over the past 3 years.. ive come to realize that the A$$holes sitting at CGI and BLS are next to useless and only when you go there and shout at them will they care and hurry ur application... Ive always seen someone or the other coming in there and yelling at them about how slow and useless they are and that he needs his visa anyhow and that he wont leave if he doesn't get it ... then they quietly fasten the process and issue it to u on the spot.
That's the real problem... folks come to Canada to live a better way and get away from the sleazy indian mentality of taking It easy and take a bribe but the guys at CGI and BLS are still half a decade back in their mentality..

[G] It's not a problem. It just means that it's not a simple scenario and may take some time. When was your last PCC issues? If it was more than 1 year then may be they have to go through the same process again. Also how much time it took for last time for PCC?

[G] I would advice to cancel the application and ask your wife to get the PCC from India. That may be easier and may save some time. If you reapply again from here, for sure it would take atleast 7 weeks again as they would go through the same process

This is interesting as CGI is just a facilitator in issuing PCC. They need approval from India passport office(from where your passport was issues), which in turn may need Police commissioner approval. It has many parties involved.

So my understanding is that going to CGI office would not change the above process. But since in your case it worked out so no harm in trying out.

BLS and CGI employees are dumb, they don't know nothing. Now people have to go India and spend around $1400-1600 to get PCC from India. ???

I suggest to go to CGI, Toronto office directly and ask them to return your passport temporarily. It is the same case with me. My PCC is pending for over 6 months and when I visited the CGI office, I was able to get my passport back and I need to resubmit it in 1-2 months.

Same application will continue. I had to write an application explaining my situation and they attached the same letter to my original application package.

I had similar issue back in December 2012. I waited calmly for 6 weeks ( that's the timeline mentioned in CGI / VFS) website at that point of time. I went o CGI and demanded that I should get my PCC and passport as I have to travel back to India.

Next week, I got my passport with PCC.

However with BLS India, I thought they don't keep passport, they verify your copy with original passport and return your passport. I guess I am wrong...

I am plannig to visit CGI on Tuesday. Let's see what they will tell me. I will update you guys. In the mean time do you know the process to apply PCC from India and how much time it takes?
