No Passport Requested for Spouse-Within Canada Online TRV Application

Hi Guys

I applied for TRV within Canada through an online application process using my CIC account. When filling out the application, I had added my spouse as a family member and his TRV was also requested along in the same application. When the application was submitted...the system generated two separate application numbers for me and my spouse.
Application Filed- 20th October 2014

On November 14th- My passport was requested..however to date we have not received a passport request for my spouse.

I have read a couple of forums and some ppl claimed that online application process is not applicable for family members over 18 years old applying within Canada.However I have not read anywhere on the immigration website that applicants applying along with family members for TRV within Canada should not apply online but send documents through paper application At the same time, when I applied online- there was form which was filled and submitted where my spouse authorized me to submit his application

-I have tried to email CPP ottawa but I guess it wont be easy to receive any answer from them soon
- I called the CIC agents but none of them stated that family members should not be included in the online application within Canada for TRV.


Guys...i really really need your help!!!...Please give me your suggestions or comments. Your inputéhelp is highly appreciated at the moment.

However, when I received the passport request, it only mentioned my name, my UCI number and my application number. It did not mention anything related to my spouse. Therefore its still confusing to me what was their intention.

Its wrong, CIC sends two different passport request letters.
I got two letters, one for me and another for my wife.
However, I got mine within 3 days after apply for TRV and for my wife after 1.5 months.
Hope it will help canadaresident.

It is very rare your situation.

When CIC asks for one it asks for both.

It's not rare. For canadaresident also, he got his passport request letter, but not for his wife. Same case as me.
Unfortunately, they don't even update the status in your online CIC account.

If I think rationally, then partly it should be blamed to us, as we should not use the same account id for sending the application of both husband and wife without any signed authorization from wife. If we are using the same account id, then even though the application for husband wife are to be separate (due to online TRV system limitation when we apply for TRV from within Canada), then wife can fill in the authorization form, sign and attach it with her application. That way, you not giving any opportunity to find any document missing fault with your application.

Interestingly, I can deduce that my application and my wife's application got approved at the same time, but I only got the passport request letter.
I can say this on the basis that through e-mail CIC confirmed later that the other application has also got approved.

Perhaps, the authorization letter which she had posted and e-mailed later, might have prompted them to issue the separate passport request for her also.

I was reading your post regarding the delayed spouse TRV due to applying online. I wish i would have read this post earlier Sad. My husband (principle applicant) and myself applied for TRV via online on 16th Sept 2015. He received an email to send his passport on 25th Sept 205 but nothing for me as of today. Would appreciate if you can answer my query as you have been through this.


* What email did you guys email for status
* After how long did your wife finally got the trv
* As per the online application I was suppose to submit form IMM5708E. Did your wife submit the same.
* Did they ask for any additional documents from your wife?

Would really appreciate a response and thanks for your help in advance.

Hi! I know this topic has been dormant for a year but I'd give it a shot. I am in the same situation but I have not submitted the online application yet. Did your spouse eventually get a passport request?
