im planning to apply my brother as live-in caregiver from Philippines.. we own a 2 bedrooms townhouse but my two boys age 4.5 & 1 are sleeping in our bedroom & no one is using the other bedroom. now before i send my brother to a caregiving school, i just wanna make sure that the embassy will not question or deny the application because of that... pls. help!!

I was in the same situation. Employer's house has 3 bedrooms. One for the employer (parents), second for the children and third is for the mother of the employer(grandmother). I got refused coz there are no bedroom for the caregiver. Consul counted the household and did not even consider that the grandmother can share a room with the children which at that time on their preschool stage. Employer also stated that on the application. I was hired to take care of the children.
My employer reapplied and mentioned that the grandmother moved out and stayed with a close relative. Got accepted with no problems.

There is a Canadian National Occupancy Standard you can find at http://www2.stats.govt.nz/domino/external/web/prod_serv.nsf/0/5fc1e29f9dda2bc0cc256dd5006e47d3?OpenDocument#Discussion where it states that:
* no more than two people shall share a bedroom
* parents or couples may share a bedroom
* children, both under 5 years, either of the same sex or opposite sex may share a bedroom
* children under 18 years of the same sex may share a bedroom
* single adults 18 years and over and any unpaired children require a separate bedroom
Therefore they would say that the 2 boys 4.5 and 1 years old need their own bedroom they may share until the older one turns 18 and the parents need a separate bedroom so no room for live-in caregiver. Also in plussy's case, the grandmother can not share a bedroom with the kids.

So that is why they refused me. This was never mentioned by the consul when I had my interview. She asked for my passport and papers and reviewed my situation. I was hoping that they will issue my visa but eventually all papers and passport were returned with a letter that I have no room in my employer's house.

anyone have any answers or experiences with the den being suitable? I've asked almost everyone on the internet and nobody seems to know, i went to the CIC website and it just says "adequate accommodations" no mentions if a "den" is adequate or not..please help.

Hello, yes they are both boys, they share a bedroom right now. so you guys think a 35 sq ft den is not sufficient for accommodating our caregiver?? should we even try?scylla said:
