Wait, when I applied I did not receive any sort of updates between June and February.

When you say they have not touched your file, how do you know this?

I am asking because even if they do not update your application only, they are very likely working on it behind courtains. A good way to find out is calling the call centre and inquire about your application. Ask them explicitly about the status of your background, eligibility, criminality and security.

You can certainly submit a case specific inquiry to ask about the status of your application. You could also order GCMS notes.

This won't speed up processing but may give you some information about status.
