No Last Name in Passport, No First Name in Work Permit, SIN not yet recieved

Hi Everyone,

I landed in Canada on 22 APR, 2016. My passport has only given name as "Navi Singh" and Last name is not there, it is blank, however i got my work permit and Immigration officer issued my Workpermit with Last name as "Navi Singh" and First name is blank as in Canada Last name is mandatory so that went well.

Now on 25 APR, 2016 i went to Canada Services to issue my SIN, but they are not able to find my records, they said might be some issue as you have two words in Last name and no first name in your work permit, they asked me to come after 2 weeks. Anyone had same experience please share your advice and also let me know if I can correct things in my passport as my passport going to expire in a year and some months (2018). And also please advice my what else documents can have the issue due this last name and what name shall i use, shall i use Last name as "Navi Singh" everywhere as it is in Work Permit?

For all passport holders who have entry on only one line (given or last) , the ServiceCanada will need a last name and hence leave first name blank.

You can request a change of name in your province after you have stayed for over 12 months via ServiceOntario.ca for $137.
Google province name change for your province specific process. It can take 6~8 weeks for the change.
While Canadian Citizens get birth certificate wth new name, PR holders will get name changed letter from Vital statistics department.
Apparently there are 1000s of immigrants who have first names blank.

I am not sure if all the above applicable for work permit holders though.

I was able to get my SIN number from Service Canada. It was just a delay nothing else, everything went through.

Hello Brother I am also facing same problem No first name only family name on Sin document? Did you got yours correct? Please respond if you got any measures to correct this problem.
