I read in the news that jason kenny bans food sector in temporary foreign worker program... I am about to apply pr under cec category next month... Does this affect me???
Plss seniors reply me

Probably won't affect you if you currently have a work permit and if you are eligible for CEC.

Unless you're anticipating it to affect you?

thanks theawesomematt....
but i was little worried as CEC comes under TFW program...

work permit and permanent residence are two different things, CEC is based in your work experience already gained, the only problem will be if you need a new LMO or to extend your work permit but, again that is something different to your CEC application, so if you are eligible for CEC go ahead with your application

@Mapleleaf

Which NOC are you going to apply under CEC next month which is under food industry?

They were talking about companies using the temporary foreign worker program to fill entry-level jobs. How many of these fast food occupations are even eligible for CEC?

But I agree, the decision was to suspend the issuing of new LMOs in that industry. There was no announcement on new restrictions for CEC, for those people who already have work experience.

Is the new rule for fast food industry covers all province? All of canada or B.C only?

All provinces.

" In addition, any unfilled positions tied to a previously approved LMO will be suspended. "

Does it includes LMO that are already in process for work permit??

Thanks.. I was just confused to the word "unfilled" how about LMO used for wrk permit renewals.. ahaha... ..

It does appear that the decision affects work permit extensions as well.

The announcement is that ESDC will not process LMO requests for the food service sector, nor will CIC issue work permits based on pre-approved LMOs in that sector. An extension requires a new LMO.

Unfortunately it affects ALL, that means LMOs in process or pre-approved
