Hi all,

I am creating the express entry profile for myself and have some queries regarding gaps in work history. I graduated in 2009. I worked at two places for first half of 2010. After that, I joined as lab assistant at another place. Later on, I joined the industry where I worked till now. This is the job for which I am claiming CRS points. Below is the timeline.

  1. April 2009 to Dec 2009: Unemployed (I was preparing for competitive exams)
  2. Jan 2010 to March 2010: Temporary position 1
  3. April 2010 to June 2010: Temporary position 2
  4. July 2010 to June 2011: Lab assistant.
  5. July 2011 to Dec 2016: Job at industry for which I am claiming CRS points.

My problem is that for the first two job, I absolutely do not have any documentation and I don't think the places where I worked will provide as they were ad-hoc positions. I don't even remember the date when I joined for the job-2 or left the job. Job-3 fall under one of the NOC categories, but I only have reference letter from my supervisor, and it does not include my work duties, salary or work hours. I am not claiming any CRS points for this job.

I have been informed that if I receive ITA, I would have to provide detailed personal history of last ten years. My query is that as I do not have any documentation regarding job-1 & job-2, should I include it in the personal history or just claim as being unemployed during that time? Is it ok if I just omit these two positions and just claim as being unemployed?

Since I am not claiming any CRS points for job-3, is it OK if I include this job in personal history section and not in work history.

Thanks

Any work positions for which you don't wish to claim points for need not be mentioned in the work history section. You must however, mention all of these in the personal history section, claiming you were unemployed when you were actually working is misrepresentation.

If I mention the first two jobs in the personal history section, do I need to show the documentation for those jobs? The reason I am asking is because they were temporary jobs and I did not leave those organization with good terms. So they might be reluctant to provide me any letter of experience.

Will it be OK if I provide the letter of explanation that I have worked at these positions, but do not have any documents to prove the employment? Will that negatively affect the evaluation of my application?

You don't have to provide proof of employment for jobs only mentioned in the personal history section.

I forgot to mention that I am in canada on a student visa and I didn't mention Job-1 & 2 in my Student Questionnaire form. Will there be an issue if there is a mismatch in the express entry personal history and the one in student questionnaire form.
Thanks.

In a similar situation. Worked for a small company as a personal assistant for 2 years after graduating. Then took up the job for which I am claiming CRS points. I do not have a proper experience letter in the expected format. The company has closed down now. Do I need to provide any solid proof of employment for this job?
