No DM/contact from CIC yet, should I contact CIC?

I am a December 2015 outland (US) applicant. I have noticed February applicants from Ottawa have already received DMs and I haven't. Every required document has been upfront. I thought CIC worked on a first come first serve bases. Should I contact CIC or have my MP contact CIC? If the latter, how would I go on about this?

That's your mistake. CIC does not work on first-come-first serve, more like they throw the applications in the air and grab one. Unfortunately it's best not to compare your times directly with others, as every case and every officer is different. It's only been what, 5-6 months? That's still well within the "average" seen on these forums.

Ottawa averages 6-8 months, with a few apps done in around 4 months. Where are you seeing DM already for Feb applicants? 2 months would be ridiculously fast even for Ottawa apps.

An Australian on the February Outland thread got DM the other day. However, he is the only one I've seen get DM that fast.

It's important to note that everyone's application is different, comparing any two is difficult since the circumstances are likely vastly different. Perhaps some applications are just easier than others, for whatever reason, maybe one only needs a police clearance from one country where the other has lived in 3 different countries. Giving them a call may not be such a bad idea if it'd give you peace of mind to know some progress was being made.

Definitely not first come first serve.

Your MP won't be able to do anything. You're way under posted processing times and haven't been waiting that long. You just have to be patient and way.

You're still pretty early for getting DM. I would request GCMS notes though if you'd like to see where you stand. Way too early for getting an MP involved. I haven't seen much of anyone getting DM from February, that's ridiculously fast.

My partner and I applied at the beginning of November 2015. We are going through the Ottawa office and we are still waiting for a DM as well. It is hard to be patient and seeing other people get DMs while you're still waiting is definitely nerve wracking but hang in there! I'm sure we will get good news soon!
