No clue what happens next with spouse immigration, help anyone?!

Hi!

So I live in the US, my husband lives in BC. We got married on April 4, 2014. Sent in the Canadian spouse sponsorship immigration papers to the CIC. Went to check my status and this is all it said:

Permanent Residence

1.) We received your application for permanent residence on October 14, 2014.

2.) Medical results have been received.

My husband got approved as a sponsor on December 3, 2014.

And now its May and we have had nothing else happen or anyone contact us. We've looked at the processing times but are confused on how to gauge where we are at. We have no idea what is suppose to happen next. My hubby is going to call the CIC tomorrow but we're trying to figure out everything we can. I would appreciate any advice! And thanks

Since you're a US citizen you should be processed through Ottawa and processing times through Ottawa are taking about 8-10 months right now. Apparently Ottawa doesn't send out a lot of communication unless you're missing documents or other information they need, so being in the dark is pretty normal. If I were you I would look for an "October 2014 Outland" thread somewhere in this Family Class Sponsorship forum to get a better estimate of where you should be and where others like you are in the process right now.

The silence from CIC is normal, All applications are processed individually and thus you really can not gauge where you are in the system unless you have your GCMS notes even having those its not easy to see where you are in process. All that can actually be said is for you and your husband to be patient.The next things that will happen are the eligibility, security, and criminal background checks and anything else that CIC wants to do with the application. With in CIC's timeline for your application the process will complete and you will be contacted.
