No AOR yet, should I be worried?

My husband and I completed and sent out our package to Vegreville, AB for inland spousal sponsorship on March 27th with FedEx. We received notification from FedEx that the package with the application in it had arrived on April 1st. It was signed for and everything as per our request. Since then a fellow applicant who had sent in their application after us has received AOR. We have not.

After hearing this, I went onto ECAS and looked at our application status with my husband's client ID number (a number he has had from previous study/work permits here) and the status of our application says, "application received April 2nd." We have not received an e-mail/letter reflecting if this is our AOR or not. Understandably, I'm getting a bit worried - I've heard that some people never receive AOR and just receive SA, but according to CIC, my husband needs AOR to work under an assumed status until we are awarded his TPR.

Should I be worried that we have not received AOR yet? Can someone calm my nerves maybe? Haha.

Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated!

I am 99% positive that when it says "application received xxxxx" that that is basically your AOR. Some people don't get an email and get it by snail mail! If you are really worried, give them a quick call to confirm or a Case Specific Enquiry ! :)

I have almost the same situation. I sent outland app April 2 and it was received April 3 per Canada Post
I have noticed March applicants received AOR within a few weeks, however I have yet to receive any type of AOR. Using her Client ID number from previous visa coorespondence I discovered the same info as you. As of this writing I noticed that no April applicants are showing AOR on the outland spreadsheet, so could it mean Mississauga CIC has stopped issuing AOR's entirely ?

I'll definitely be contacting CIC tomorrow to inquire about the status. I'll let you know how that turns out! Thank you!

Hi Mrs_Canuck,

I don't think you need to worry..... :). The reason is this: an AOR is just a way for the CIC to tell the sponsor "hey, we got your application, and this is the receipt".

However you did mention that e-CAS says "application received April 2nd." which means, absolutely, that the CIC did receive your application. It could be that they just haven't sent you an AOR, or may be they got your email address wrong.

And your SA should be coming pretty soon... ^^

Well give the call centre a call anyway.....hopefully they'll find out why no AOR has been sent yet :)

Thank you everyone for your replies and your support. Called CIC this morning and was informed that we have had our AOR since April 16th and that they had the wrong e-mail on file for me - which is why we never received the notification. I have sent in a correction of e-mail and now they are currently looking at SA for me, so hopefully we'll see that soon as well! :)

Super happy!

Chala, I would contact your local CIC and double check with them. Have all of your info with you and they can look it up to see what's going on!

If you sent your application to CPC Vegreville, you're applying inland, not outland. So - Sponsor approval is 1 month ( more or less) for outland, and 6 months for Inland. I hope for you that it is shorter, but I doubt that you will receive your SA anytime soon, if your application was received beginning of April. Most applicants here are outland, so don't compare their timeline with yours - otherwise you'll go crazy! there is an inland 2012 thread, and 2013 as well, I think you will get more information there.

Good luck,
Sweden

Strange, looks like a lot of people get problems with e-mail. I thought that they scan all bar codes to make sure there's no mistake....

Thanks Sweden. :)

Yes, I hope it's shorter! I think I will join the inland applicants for 2013 thread, I might get an idea of when I should expect certain steps in our application. You're always very helpful and I appreciate that you're still sticking around to help those of us that are panicking! :)
