Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

I submitted my wife's application for Canadian citizenship back in May and till now we haven't even received the AOR!! we called CIC more than once and they refused to provide further information about her file unless it passes one year on the application submission!! I requested ATIP thinking that it may shed some light on the status but received the response today as follows:

"
  • Following a thorough search of our information holdings, I regret to inform you that no records were found that respond to your request.
"

Any advise on what should we do next? any chance they might lost the application but not welling to tell us?

If you did not get an AOR unfortunately ATIP will be of no use. AOR email means someone has opened and gone through your application and entered all relevant information into the system, when you order ATIP the ATIP officer just makes a search on the system using your client id, so i the information in not in the system they will not find anything.

1) First Question is how did you send the application ? FedEX, Canada Express? did you have a tracking and signature on it? Does it say it was delivered and signed by CIC?

2) Have you checked your email ? Including Spam folders for AoR?

I sent the application by Canada Xpress. I have the delivery note with the signature on it. I check email (Inbox and Junk) regularly, no AOR received! is it normal nowadays to take more than 5 months for the AOR to be sent out?

It is not normal, but it is not impossible either.
If you have the delivery note with the signature, you could challenge CIC, I believe.

Just for your information, look at this timeline posted in another thread:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on May 22, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on October 19, 2015.

So... like I said, it is not impossible. Maybe wait for two more months?

I guess that's what I will do for now!

You can wait. Meanwhile send an online case status inquiry on your case. They will have to respond back within 28 days. Also talk to your MP as soon as they take office. Calling CIC does not create a trace ability that you have followed up. So use the ATIP request / empty report as well.

Ask the MP to see if they can request an expedited processing as CIC has missed 5 months with AOR. They may be able to do that.

basel, just wondering, have you tried checking your wife's eCas status?

I do, information not identified. I believe this is because AOR was not sent and information is not in the system yet!

I say it's pretty normal nowadays since that's what happened with my app, and it was processing in May too. Didn't receive any letter, e-mail, update etc just waited and a week before my test date I got a letter with a link to the book. My test is on Monday so I would not be worried if I were you, they are processing apps much quicker and hopefully even better now with the new government. Gd luck ;)
