I was approved as a sponsor on September 26th. My husband resides in Cuba.
As of yet, I have not received an AOR (acknowledgment of receipt) nor did I get my DND (do not disturb date). I've spoken to other people with similar timelines and whose spouses are Cuban as well, and all of them have received a letter indicating that their file is in process but I have received nothing at all.
I called CIC and asked them if this is normal and the lady who spoke to me said that it happens sometimes. She was a bit vague, so I don't know what to think. I don't want to email the embassy as I've heard this may delay things tremendously and I'm not risking it.
I sent in the application for my CSQ a little late because I was out of the country when I was approved. Nonetheless, I have it now and furthermore, the lady told me that a delay in the CSQ doesn't make a big difference as they start on your application with or without it. They just cannot finalize everything until it's in their possession.
So is this AOR optional? Do they send it only if they feel like it? My ECAS has been the same since I was approved. It merely states that it was received July 14th and a decision was made on Sept. 26th concerning sponsorship, and that medicals have been received.
My husband is not in the military so it's not as if there's a million security things to investigate!
I know patience is needed to survive this roller-coaster ride but I'm curious to what some of you think or have experienced!
