Backlog seems to be the beneficiary of the new rules

I just checked the CIC website and the statistics page reveals that 12000 + applications have been processed from the backlog in the first three months of the year.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/data-release/2011-Q1/index.asp

With the new rules and likely increase in FSW immigrants (hoping the public consultations are positive), we might see the backlog shrink into the mid-200ks this year.

So if you are a CIC backlogger like I am, there is a reason to be optimistic.

Nice info Ofonzo !

+1 for you ;D

Total Applicants Awaiting a Decision 848,547 929,230 998,299 945,321 1,003,012 1,003,012 1,007,153

These figures spans 2006-2011. The last figure showing 1,007,153 I believe its the current backlogs. Given these there is still a long way to go to clear these load.

Thanks so much EMO. I have about Usd1800 and they are meant to charge c1550. If all things being equal, hope usd1700 will take care of it after recognising the bank minimum balance of usd100.

Futhermore,i just checked my eCAS and found out that my mailing address just disappeared, hope its a good one.

NB: do i need to do a letter to my banker, advising them to accept my Visa debit card on presentation.

Thoughts,
Spicey

You do not need to inform your bank of anything. The entire process is automated. so you can bank on it.

@ SPICEY
could you share your timeline?

Cheers

GREETINGS FROM ACCRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just returned from Accra and they sent their greetings to everybody and they were kind enough to issue me and family with U-G-W-U L-E-A-F.
The process was so easy, I got to accra 7:40Am using Aero, got to the embassy 7:55Am, dropped off PP at about 8:50Am and they ask us to wait but after waiting for three hours we were told to come back by 2:30pm, at about 2:50pm they started with those that applied for visiting visa (Its a day process, you apply in the morning and get answer later in the day) before those of us for immigrant Visa. I left there at about 4:50pm.
Thanks to everybody in this house, this forum made the waiting process stress-free.

Congrats 2 u. May d good news spread across d board.
