I m sorry i never shared my landing experience with all. I boarded Luthanza on the 11th at the MMA VIA frankfurt, waited 3 hours before connecting through Air Canada for a 9 hours flight down to YYC airport. i have been very uncomfortable with the proof of funds as i had just $3000 cash with me , actually i kept $6500 in my Firstbank naira mastercard, Got to YYC, They nearly finished us with IJEKUJE on board the airlines. arrived in time. the queue wasnt much. Met CBSA officers attending to arrivals , the office on the last window called myself and my wife, told us to sit down. very friendly, just 2 or 3 questions such as , do you have any good coming, NO, have you be denied entry into canada, NO have you been convicted before , NO, He then asked that he hopes every information on the COPR is completeand correct, we said yes, He then signed and asked us to sign. Imagine, God at work, He never asked anything on proof of funds. just 15 minutes. then to the immigrations, we were just ushered in, then to customs, we met our 4 luggages waiting for us there. the customs officer then asked us if we still have good coming in. we said NO, she then collected the disembarkation form we filled on plane and thats all..Just 18minutes in all. we were met with terrible cold out side.. funny enough withing one week after getting SIN number my wife got a job. I m also starting a job this week. what a wonderful jehova... The land looks promising and i shall possess the land in jesus name.

Yes o I feel you my brother, when you think of the weather @ like -30•C in Edmonton, you'll get the shivers-on & have the feeling of wanting to wait till when the summer starts proper especially when you have lil' children...

Having a decent POF too na big matter oo when you plenty!

May God help us all thru with the landing process...

We came with gtbank statement of account printed from our online banking and it was accepted by the CBSA that attended to us. the only cash we carried was $120.

i need to clarification about my passport...my passport is expiring by nov 2014, and am expecting PPR soon , is it advisable a go and renew my passport now, or have my visa stamp on my passport, then i can later think of renewing it later.

whats your opinion guys.

Dear Switchlanes,

You may not be able to obtain another or "Re-Issue Passport" as it is called until a day after the day less than six months. If your Passport will expire 20th November, 2014 for example, you will be able to obtain a "Re-Issue Passport" as from 21st May, 2014 (Six Months or less to expire). This is because your PRV can not be stamped on the Passport that has a validity period of less than Six Months.

I think you don't have a problem. Your PRV must have been issued before May, 2014. Just relax. You can apply for a Re-Issue after you obtain your PRV if you are not travelling almost immediately.

My family Passports will expire 19th August, 2014. I followed-up with Immigration on the renewal, but I was not permitted until last week Thursday, 20th February, 2014. We have not been able to obtain the "Re-Issue Passports" as the Network system has been faulty in Asaba, Delta State. It has been very frustrating without result for two days. We intend to repeat to the Immigration office this week.

My brother, -30•C is really scary to me oo when I checked with a friend that landed in Edmonton not too long ago....putting the children on the priority consideration list in this immigration process is a most! dem wey dey catch flu & cold anyhow for inside this our ordinary harmattan, make dem no go break down for inside extreme cold they've never experienced...

Building solid POF and making it decent is part of the deal too now as we have been warned by OmoNaija & madam Tinuade Adebola, that money dey disappear like spirit for Canada oo so this is for us to prepare wella after landing & before getting a job in Canada.

Just to clarify, are you suggesting to get a new passport after the Visa has been stamped on to the 'about to expire passport', I will say to confirm from Accra again, I had a similar issue a while back and sent a mail, the response sent is copied below, the summary though is if you get a new passport after the visa has been issued, you must return to Accra again to have the Visa transferred to the new passport!

In that case you must submit both the old and new passports and pay re-issuance fee (bank draft of GHC50.00) so that a new visa will be issued in the new passport.

My God is Great, like I knew my PPR is on the way, Accra just requested for my passort today. Am so happy . Monday for that matter . Lord am grateful, so expect yours soon. Na my passport be my problem now ,its expiring by Nov 2014 ;D :-\ h
