Hi Jada,

Yes,...waiting is difficult.

From my observation, the VOs are unpredictable. I am sure the delays are as a result of the additional documents requested, which you have supplied. In your position I would have done the followiing; 1. Apply for the CAIPS; 2. Send case specific enquiries and wait. I am sure yours is on the way .....

my 2 cents, though

Re: Why does it takes a long time.

I am Nigerian, residing in Dubai, i want to apply this year but realy want to weigh my options. My question is, why does it takes a long time to process the visa for Nigerians against the 6 to 9 months time frame.

Hi Kingso,
I don't know who told you it takes longer but its not true. I got mine in ten months and I did every thing in Niger. If it takes longer for any body in Niger or anywhere, it's an isolated case, especially if the person is on the new programme. You have to be extra thorough, especially if you don't intend using an agent.

When the new programme started, those that quickly got the info did theirs in 6 months, but now the whole world knows about the programme, getting a file number now takes about two months, i got mine in 20 days and I know some one who got his earlier. its not a niger thing but a demand-pull problem.

All the best

Why should they be concerned about a spouse that they never saw before? I want to believe that since kulikuli is the principal applicant he should be able to go in person and receive his family's passport. After all if he posted all their passports they wouldn't see his spouse and they will stamp all their pp? Just wanting to learn bro.

I once went to the Accra office and heard when a man was asked the whereabout of his wife, although I DONT KNOW HIS REASON FOR GOING THERE.The lady asked him to come together with his wife before close of work.It wasn't a problem for him though and I don't think its a problem anyway.

Main applicant can go pick up visas for all the family members included on the application on mondays, spouse and children need not go. A dependant spouse on an application may also go pick visas provided he/she is furnished with an authorisation letter by the main applicant. The only other way is to arrange with DHL, Fedex etc to deliver and pick up passports from Accra. Using DHL et al may not be cost effective in some cases where you have large families, DHL staff are wont to charge per passport (by default), as against charging based on the weight of the parcel regardless of no. of passports in the parcel, so one needs to stand firm to point out their error or haggle to get them to do the right thing.

Accra being a regional office deals with all sorts of applications from several countries along the west coast, and then you have various streams like visitors, students, provincial nominees, refugees, federal skilled workers, temp workers, live-in-caregivers, marriage, adoptions etc which they deal with; so the absence of the spouse might have been an issue in a family class application or an interview, but its simply not required for passport pick ups under FSW.

Hi country people, i have been enjoying your contributions. I'm new to this, I wish to apply but there is one thing that is taking my breath away, it is this issue of POF. Does it mean that if i don't have up to 13,000CAD,for two adult(hus and wife) which is approx. 2Million Naira in my bank account or equivallent, my application will be disqualified or rejected. pls kindly reply and tell me how you guys are doing it,so that i do not make mistake.

yes this is part of the requirement but not at the initial stage. you need to fill the applications forms and send to canada in the first instance. Depending on your luck it will take them between 2-3 months to confirm receipts and send your forms to acrra visa office. You will then be given another two months to send all your documents to accra and it seems is at this stage you will need the proof of funds.

You should be able to arrange some cash into your account for a few months from friends and relatives when the time arises. what i meant is that when you get to that bridge you will find a way to cross it.
I wish you best of luck
