Hi GENTLEANDREW,

You certainly have a lot of posts for a newbie :o :D
Your post here suggests you may qualify; but I would advise researching what is expected from that NOC vis-a-vis your job functions before you conclude on your eligibility to apply.

Wishing you the best :)

Yeah, thanks!I have been active in other foruw not here. That's why i am claiming a "newbie."Yes,my job functions match that of the stated NOC very well.I am only trying to confirm things and trying to know if education and work experience must carry thesame title to apply.Let me still hear from you. Thanks!

Toto1,
Please from your experience with Accra and FedEx, which option is better? FedEx or going in person?
if you are closer by to Accra, the best thing is to go physically. I am far away in Washington, DC. I had to personally monitor the passport while in transit to Accra. making several calls to ensure an itch free journey. It took Accra about two weeks to stamp the visa after about two follow-ups. They finally asked me to contact FEDEX for a pick up. Despite the fact that we have a fedex account and already send a prepaid envelope, to get fedex representatives to pick it up was another headache. Delays from customs is also part of it because they had to open up the package both in UK and the US. If you can make it, I will advise that you go personally. Besides, if the passport is lost in transit(although rarely happens), they would have been a lot of challenge.

Toto1,
Thank you for the light you have shed on this.
I also sent your PM. Please read it.
Thanks

In addition to Mandie's answer, many Nigerian citizens on temporary status in the US (and many other countries) get processed in Accra as their VO (if they choose to apply for Canadian PR from their country of temporary residence).

In that kind of situation, visiting Accra becomes very difficult and they opt for pre-paid courier services.

Thanks Spokes and Mandie. I was thinking of going the FedEx way but I now see the light. Traveling is it!

I don't believe that education and work experience needs to carry the same title (except of course in core professional roles like medical doctors etc.). I would even say they probably place more emphasis on work experience rather than what your degree says.
E.g a computer programmer may have had a first degree in English but later gets some job specific certifications etc. or an Accountant with a first degree in Pharmacy who bags a CPA along the line and starts practicing accountancy. Conversely, someone with your education qualification who ends up trading is certainly not eligible to apply in your NOC on the basis of lack of experience :-\

So, it looks like you are good to go! Go ahead and apply, would be my verdict ;D
