Okay then, the landing experience wasn't too much different from most of the others so I wont go into details. Like others have said, register to get your SIN cards immediately, it'll take ten working days thereabout, health insurance is three months in Ontario but subject to proof of a landing address, (in Alberta it is immediate) make sure you open a bank account immediately because it is the bank statement that you will use as evidence of address to get health insurance and it will be a month after opening the account that the statement will be sent to your address. Taxes are over the roof in Ontario, 13% sales tax on all your purchases, and income tax is progressively increases as your income goes up. Accomodation is another kettle of fish, don't want to put in my experience here,(You never know whose reading and you will never understand what is recommended you do till you are actually here). Advise, Alberta is good for engineers, Ontario for accountants, this is a subjective opinion however. It makes sense to register for a "Newcomers" program on arrival as most jobs are on "referrals". i.e. "man know man", yep just like in Nigeria. You get these referrals after attending one of these programs. (For a deeper incite, shoot me a mail on the email address I put here. There are many programs and getting into the right one can determine what kind of landing you have in the labour market). By the way, spring didn't show up in much of Canada this year. So summer may be late too, come with warm clothes or buy them. Everybody will greet you "Welcome to Canada", don't believe the hype!

Congrats BeeYo on your successful landing.
May God prosper you and all yours in the new Land. Amen.

Congrats on your successful arrival to Canada - wishing you the best in all your endeavours in your new country, Canada, IJNA.

@ Busco,
No i do not think Calgary is congested, not by Nigerian standards at least. SInce I arrived and feedback from people I have been talking to points at the fact that jobs are more plentiful and easier to get outside of the main cities of Toronto and Calgary (outskirts) and I was refering to Pharmacy ( as you see that I was answering Chinny's questions). It may not be the same for O&G or for some other professions.
@ Chinny,
what a dissapointment with the new list. Like others have said, your best bet would be to check the job description in the listed NOC to see if your job description matches. I blv its the job description in your reference letters they look at much more than your title.
I wish you all the best.
Canada is truly a land of peace and opportunites.

Dear all,
We thank God for the lives of the initiator of this great forum and of course of all us forum members.
Let us try and learn one or two things in the contributions of our members and know that in "Communication"
we encode and decode.
Whenever we speak let us put ourselves in the two points of encoding & decoding (Speaker and Listener) by feeling our WORDS.

Therefore, after any singular write up let us read our write ups all over before posting on this forum in that way we can rephrase some words for proper understanding (decoding) of members. As we all know that our forum is a public utility type.

May our dreams come true in Canada/Nigeria and in the Whole Wide World in Jesus name Amen and Amen.

Hello fatty man,
Probably there is a mistake somewhere. We are not Jews in this forum, from my understanding, members are Nigerians and I think some Ghanaians.
