Swinglow, finally you have your own internet connection I see 8).

I can imagine what would have been going through your mind when your luggage didn't show on time. Hia! I would have burst an artery if I were in your shoes o. Aero Contractors once left my luggage back in Lagos on a trip to PH and it was a HORRIBLE experience. :'(. I guess that can only happen in Naija.

Well, I say welome to your new home. Enjoy..........................

Thank u cynthybaby.
It wasn't funny at all cos I was just thinking of my flight to toronto. Anyway, thank God its not naija and I got to my destination safely with every thing intact.
God is faithful.

Cheers

What To Take? [Purely My Advise]:
1. Personal effects [for imdt use, large quantities... No]
2. General clothing [some warm ones also]
3. Laptop [no desk top, printer etc.]
4. Digicam / Camcorder
6. Original Certificates / Documents
7. Prescription Medicines
8. Books & DVDs
9. Mobile Phone* [non CDMA] -a NA charger will be needed
*Only GSM850-1900MHz models [that's the Canadian frequency -not all countries have that]

What "Not" To Take? [Purely My Advise]:
1. Furniture [whatever, small or big]
2. TV [even if it's an LCD], Fridge, Washing machine etc.
4. Cars, Bikes etc.
5. Large-sized Toys of kids
6. Food [Perishable or Non-perishable] items
7. Over-the-Counter Medicines
8. Meat or Meat products

U can carry food stuff of all kinds e.g egwusi, ogbono, dry fish, dry peper ect. But no meat or chicken products and no palm oil

Is there no other way to go with palm oil or do they sell it there?

I did my medical in feb 2013 and medical received was updated on ecas a week later after VO received medical result. I was later ask to provide final court disposition a week later. I was cation my the UK police sometimes in 2011. I ask the UK police for court disposition letter, they told me I was not charge before any court in the UK and that a caution is not a criminal conviction in the UK. I sent the caution paper and a detailed letter to Accra office, they received it on Monday this week. I am waiting to hear from them now. What a long wait.

Dear Pilele01 & Other Experts,

Which Hospital in Nigeria can one undertake the Medical that will be ready in a week time? Thanks for your response as I like this speedy medical process.

Palm oil is liquid, and u cannot carry any liquid on board that's why. Plam oil is sold here.
However some Ppl say if u can tie d palm oil in a good nylon and freeze it and put it in ur luggage( not hand luggage) then it will go thru.
I didn't carry cos I had too much load to deal with, but I know ppl who carried that way. Besides u cannot carry much like that, may be only abt 4 or 5 liters. When it finishes u still have to buy

brother I did my medical in Manchester UK. don't have an idea of where to do it in Nigeria but I believe there are list of hospitals where is been done in Lagos and ABJ. Just call the hospital and enquire from them how fast is their services. Wish you the best and congratulations for your MR.

Thanks swinglow. Can you also get other nigerian food items there? Also how is the cold there? How are you coping?
Ginacom2003, if you browse the CIC website, you will see the list of approved doctors in Lagos, Abuja and portHarourt, depending on the area nearest to you. Their numbers are also displayed so you can give them a call.
Lastly is there any physiotherapist in this forum?

Double portion you are welcome. I am a physio and want to tell you that we are many on the forum. Pls post your concerns and questions. You will be happy you did.

All nigerian food are available. Even starch and banga if u want, its just that they are expensive so if u can just bring some. I met a woman yesterday who told me that in all her 8yrs in toronto she has neva bought ogbono and egwusi in canada cos her sister in naija always sends to her wen she sees someone coming to toronto. D onces I came with will last up to one year cos that's not d only food one eats here, there are so many different thing to eat here that are not very expensive.
The wether is getting better by d day and spring has started. Its abt 5 or 6 degrees now and I dress warm all d time. I am coping just fine at least d worst of d winter is gone.
Thanks for asking
