Hey guys, no big deal with the exams. I believe any Nigerian graduate will ace it. I think the most important part of the exam is the listening so train your ears by listening severally to the CD from BC. I only practiced the listening exam once but listened to the CD 1 million times

))! I rested very well and went for the exam. I did not even bother with the other aspects. With God's favor, I had 8.0 in listening, reading - 9.0, writing 7.5 and speaking 8.5 (overall band - 8.5). My secret with the reading was what I was taught in secondary school - read the questions first before reading the passage - that way you know what to focus on. My result shows that method works. Writing - I was actually disappointed with the score I got cos I expected more but I sincerely thank God. Watch your write up, you will be penalized for writing LESS THAN the required number of words in both sections. Speaking. Don't try to impress, just be yourself and as natural as possible. No er ehrms. If you can have a decent conversation in English, you will be fine.
Caveat Emptor:
1. KNOW THYSELF.
2. If you can post your email address here, I will send you a mail by Wednesday with a link to download a Cambridge IELTS practice material which a friend sent to me but I NEVER used it once cos I did not have the time not because I did not care. I have heard severally though that the material is VERY EXCELLENT.
3. Book your exam in advance - I booked for my exam in February 2010 - about same day my application was received in NS (feb25) and as at that time, I did not get space in Lagos for April so I opted for Abuja cos I did not want any surprises. By April 16th, I got my AOR. Unfortunately, my result was delayed by an extra week for an unknown reason so I got my result in 20 days and not 13 unlike most other candidates. The morale? Do you best to sit for your exams long before it is needed.
