My people please I need your advise on this. My hubby just realized that his passport will expire on May 23rd which is less than 6 months as requested by Accra. Can he still present this Passport for the Ugwu leaf or will need to get a new one. He enquired from passport office already and was told that a fresh passport will be issued with a different passport number. Hope this doesnt have effect on receiving the Ugwu leaf since the number will be different from the one in their records.

Your expert advice on the above request will be appreciated.

Hello Eldorado, I think a similar case was discussed in this forum earlier.

I think it was stated that a renewal has to be done first. Maybe Abuja am not too sure.

Eldorado since your hubby's passport expiry is less than six months he has to go for renewal at any passport office closer to your location not compulsorly Abuja if it does not involve change of name.

Thanks. In my opinion. He needs to have a new international passport first - to satisfy 6 months expiration date by AVO.
Secondly, with the arrival of your PPR, AVO does require that you provide any information change/update via IM0008 (not sure of the exact form), which I think the new update of a new passport number can then be provided. I am sure there will not be any name change in this case, just the passport number I guess.

Let your husband go for the passport renewal at any of the passport office.He should fill the new nos in the update forms and he should write a cover note detailing this renewal!
