Dear All,

AOA. I completed my landing yesterday smoothly Alhumdulillah, no problems. Though PIA flight was pretty long and tiring (14 hours direct flight from Islamabad to Toronto). Main points to note

1) You will be given a declaration card on plane while it is about to land in Toronto. Here is the card

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e311-eng.pdf

Have a look how to fill, instructions are on left how to fill this card. Tick yes

I am bringing in to Canada Currency and/or monetary instruments totaling
CAN$10,000 or more. Rest answers are no...

2) At first immigration point your declaration card and status will be checked and card will be marked and you will be sent to another immigration counter. He will put details in system, ask for Canadian address to send PR card and ask you to sign COPR paper and stamp COPR paper. He asked me in end how much money I am carrying, I replied $11453, he put down in his system but didn't ask me to show that.

3) He told me to meet people at next point and as a new immigrant some leaflets and books were given and was greeted.

4) Now comes the baggage collection, check the aisle displaying your flight no and pick your luggage. You can also hire a porter. I hired one. They charge $10 for 2 bags.

5) Next step is important if you are carrying goods to carry and goods to follow list, you will meet a custom official and tell him yes I am carrying such list. He will send you to a different custom officials who will check the list and can ask questions. I had 2 copies of goods to carry list only and not to follow. She stamped my B4 form and every page of list and kept one copy for herself and gave other to me, also a green form is attached. Remember only goods listed on goods to carry or follow list can be brought in to Canada without paying duty.

6) Thats it then, We are out. Its very cold here these days in Toronto , temperature was like -3 C when I went out. Remember if some one is not already waiting to pick you up and coming to pick you up better stay inside airport building and call him to come to some specific pillar no you can see from inside airport building like 32, 34, 36 etc because its freezing outside. When guy pulls up at that pillar no you can see from inside.

Landing done, thats all. PR card will follow in 35-36 days he told me.

Soon I will open up a bank account, apply for SIN card and buy a mobile sim....

Good luck to all preparing for landing..

Last point, I found Canada better than my expectations.... :)
Congratulations dear on smooth landing and informative email.
Please keep writing all your experience specially Job Hunt.

The IEP Conference is a unique Canadian initiative for Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) taking interactive learning, economic development, and stakeholder awareness to unprecedented levels. Every participant can engage in a myriad of career and personal development experiences guided and encouraged every step of the way by subject matter experts from licensing bodies, educational institutions, professional associations, skilled facilitators and successful IEPs. Hundreds of previous attendees herald this free event for IEPs as a "not to be missed" initiative, offering an innovative, highly focused and productive platform for converting career dreams into practical action plans for rewarding employment.

Hi Seniors,

Can you please confirm if we need two sets of the jewelery pictures as well? One for the Customs Saff and one for our records?

Thanks!

They are basically the same forms, don't get confused. B4A is the extension of B4. Just fill two B4 forms one for goods to carry and one for goods to follow. Then make two copies of each B4 so you will have 4 sets of copies of all. If still confused follow this qorax thread or ask me

Hi!

Dear In goods to carry list I filled two B4 forms and made two sets of list attached to each B4. I did not fill any B4A form because its not needed. And I have no goods to follow so i did not have any goods to follow list.

If you will have goods to follow list then you will have four B4 forms, two for Goods to carry and two for goods to follow. Two set of B4 forms will be retained by CbSA and two will be returned to you stamped on each page.

I made B4 lists by hand. I did not type it. To know how to fill B4 forms and make lists follow this qorax thread. If you still have questions, ask me,

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t44793.0.html

In my lists, I made six categories

1) Clothing and personal effects
2) Electronics
3) Kitchen utensils
4) Staitonary
5) toiletries
6) CDs and DVDS

Please note you can list 8 categories in B4 form so don't make more than 8 categories. You will then have to list all items in each category

like in Clothing and personal effects category, write

sr no Item description quantity value (CAD) suit case no (bag in which goods are)

1) Trousers 10 60 2

2) Jackets 4 60 2

if you need more help ask me....

You can if you want to but remember there are only 8 categories you can mention on B4 form. so make sure don't make more than 8 categories.

Just for information sake, personal effects include all items like shoes, umbrella, furniture, carpets etc, etc

If you would want to bring more money into Canada after landing just tell immigration officer and also fill E677 form that is

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e677.pdf

If you use a bank or foreign exchange specialist to transfer money later on to Canada, the institution in question will declare the transfer to the government on your behalf. Again, you will not be taxed on the transfer. The government merely wants to keep tabs on large transfers of money (to monitor money laundering activities, etc.).
