Newborn after Landing

Hello everyone.

I searched CIC website but couldn't get a definite answer.

We did our landing last year but now we have a newborn (3-month-old) and I am not sure how to apply for his Permanent Residence. He is a U.S. citizen and we are currently in the U.S., planning to move to Canada by the end of year or earlier.

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Hi

You need to sponsor the child. However, you must be living in Canada for the duration of the sponsorship process, so you can't start until you actually move here. Your child can enter as a visitor but depending on your province, may not qualify for healthcare until the PR app is approved.
