I sent my application in (from the prairies) on Oct 14, 2011 (it was a friday and I dropped off at post office about 6pm.) They received it Oct. 19, 2011 (Oct. 17 was Thanksgiving, holiday Monday).... On Dec 12, I received an email that stated that they received my application on October 19, 2011 (this is how I know what date they received it). Included in the email was 2 #s. The first is my UCI number (Unique CLient Identifier number) which if I use it on E-cas along with my birthdate and details, then I can log in to see mine and my husband's status. The 2nd number was a File Number which if I used that on E-cas, with my husbands details then I can see his status. Keep in mind, that for about 5 days after receiving the email, these number didnt work, then all of a sudden they did, so dont fret. on December 22, 2011, I recieved another email from CIC that had my approval letter attached as a downloadable file. I checked ecas later (dont remeber if it was that night or next day) and it had the update on it that they had made a decision on my file. Now, ecas will not send you an email when there is a change to your status. for that there is a tracker that you can use. this comes in very handy and minimizes your need to log in to ecas every 5 minutes to check for updates. At the time of my sponorship approval, I was not aware of the tracker. If I had been, it is possible that my status could have updated before I received the email but I will never know... ecas tracker (here is the link... https://ecas.carroll.org.uk/ ) will routinely check your ecas for you and email you if there is any change. It is user friendly and very helpful. You will not be able to use this until you have a log in with ecas but I invite you to bookmark the website for use in the future. In the meantime, enjoy this forum! Please stick and stay. We are all experiencing the same thing and can relate to one another. I have one more question LOL how does everyone seem to have their medicals done before the application goes in?(info from their tracking beside their posts) I was told Kingston would call my husband and tell him when and where to get his medical done? That we couldn't just go anywhere and get it done.

You need to do medical b4 yu send in the app. You have to use a dmp designated medical practitioner. There are several across the island. Also b aware the app has to reach no more than 3 months from the time yu do the medical.

Yes Mrslwsn is right... In the application guide it should have been on the checklist to include proof of medicals... all is not lost... you can still complete the medicals although I am not 100% sure of doing this without prompt of CIC... but in my opinion I would do it right away.

Once medical is complete, they will sent for processing right away and the results will automatically be sent to Kingston. When Kingston receives it, your ecas will update (that is how we all know). Your spouse will also receive a certificate from the doctor, which is what you would send in with your app... I am thinking at this point, it is not wise to mail it to Mississauga without a file number, you should just wait until they contact you maybe... For this part maybe some other forum members could share their experience and expertise...

I sent mostly everything in with my application but here is what didn't get sent: His and his daughters medicals, his daughters passport and birth certificate and his police certificate, his daughters photos (8).

I was told that Kingston would get a hold of him to let him know when and where he had to go for his medical and police certificates. As for her passport and birth certificate we were going to do all that when I go down in April and then I could bring them up with me when I come.

Praying this doesn't make this process any longer. Calling him today to let him know he has to get his medical done asap! (if you are supposed to do this before you send in your application, how does the office in Kingston know it is for him when the medical office sends it to them, if they don't have the file yet?)

Also, I should add...

once you have posted 10 times, you should be able to add your details to your profile just like you see many of us now. and after 15 (i think) you can use your inbox to private message other members.

They will know because a file will be started as soon as CIC-M (Mississauga) opens your app - they will be in contact with Kingston and share the file numbers with eachother. Your husbands daughter will need to do her medical right away too, even if she is not accompanying him at this time. Your husband will also need to send copies of her BC and some sort of formal documentation that the birth mother gives her permission for the child to leave and/or documentation that he has full custody. Ask questions from other forum members about this as my husband has no other children from previous relationships therefore I am unaware. We do have a child together but our child lives in Canada with me, therefore we submitted his BC but no medicals....

Hun when did yu send in your app? CIC missisauga is most likely gonna send back your app to you and this will delay your app significanty I am so sorry to say...Those are super crucial to the app. But dont worry now you will get the proper info to submit the application the right way. We all here if you need.

He needs to go tmrw and get his police clearance. What parrish is he in maybe we can figure out where the closest dmp is for him n his daughter do the medicals, those get sent to trinidad then on to kgn. They will kno it is for him because it will be under his name and date of birth and basically you should be submitting the app very soon after meds are done. He needs to bring 6 passport sz photos of him n child to go do medicals, plus their passports.

Don`t despair...my app was sent back cuz I need a med for stepchild...the good news is that in all likelihood you`ll get a client ID# and when you do send it back you DON"T go to the back of the line. That's how mine worked out and I got sponsor ship approval within 2 weeks of resending. Good Luck!

Good evening everyone!!!

Every case is different and every officer that assess the file looks at it differently... In my case we sent the medical and police clearance after I was approved as a sponsor. My lawyer had advised me not to send it in with the initial package. When I received the letter stating that I was approved, there was also a letter stating that I should forward that information to Kingston by submitting it with the name, address, DOB and also client id #. We had included a copy of the birth certificate in the application and a few months after the application was in Kingston they requested the original birth certificate. The passport is only requested when they are about to issue the visa not before. Best of luck to you chickie and I hope that they do not send you back your file and that they just request the information that they need. This way there is not additional delays as I am sure you want your hubby here asap
