Hi there everybody! I am Charmaine and a newbie here on this forum, I should have joined this forum way back. It is very informative!

Ok, so here's our journey with this application.

Originally I came to Canada to work in June 2009
I met him at my workplace because he has a business there. It was a week or two after I started working there.
From then on every month we see each other at my workplace, we talk a lot, share some jokes and what not!
So that was June 2009 to April 2011
Then May 2011, we went out had lunch etc.
to make the story short, We got married Sept 4, 2011
It was just a small celebration, attended by 5 people.
then submitted application:
Nov. 23,2010- CIC-V received our application
Jan. 10, 2011- they started the processing
May 2011- received a letter asking for additional information
July 2011- they inputed my additional information
Oct. 19,2011- CIC-V transferred our documents to the local CIC here in Edmonton

After reading some posts, I learned that if they tranferred our papers there, reason is
they doubt your relationship. Which hurts me so much. Me and my husband has 32 years age gap. I'm 28 and he is 60. I know there are cases that some ladies would marry a Canadian, just for the sake of having a PR status. I heard stories everywhere, and that's the thing, sometimes they doubt you because you have this "nationality" that is known for doing this kind of thing! and that frustrates me. I love my husband so dearly. God knows how much! I have good relationship with his 2 daughters, and I love our grandchildren so much! :). My husband and my family always chat on skype. My son adores him so much!
That is why it is so frustrating, reading or hearing the word DOUBT is so! grrrrr!

Anyway,is it really true that if they tranferred it to local CIC, it will take a year or two before they send a letter or call for the interview? wahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I hope someone will answer my query.or just give an advise! I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much for taking time to read this!

Charmaine

Transfer without AIP does mean there are some concerns regarding the relationship, yes. If you want more specifics, order your FOSS notes.

How long it takes to get an appointment for an interview depends on how busy the local office is, and yes, it can up to 2 years in some offices, especially in urban centres with high concentrations of immigrant populations. Maybe you won't have to wait that long, but try to view the wait time as a good thing. You have time in which to demonstrate that your relationship is genuine and not primarily for gaining status under IRPA.

just to know which embassy they will send your application...can you tell us what kinds of documents you sent to prove your relationship? if they are skeptical to your relationship it might be a lack of proofs or,,sorry but i have to say this it could be the age difference of you two..as i just read on your post..you know your self what you really feel to your man. when my husband and I just started dating, sometimes people can't help but to judge you. i got those doubt before as well to other people even tho our age gap is only 1 year..they even telling me not to marry my husband if its only for the paper..and i just told my self who are these people judging me and telling me not to marry the man of my life and now the father of my child... ;)

It's from CPC-V then they sent it to Local office in Edmonton, I sent pictures of our wedding, wedding invitation and pictures of our trips together. I should have submitted it after Christmas, I have pictures with his daughters and grandkids. I know, this day would come, that they will be questioning this, but, you are right, who are they to judge right? If I can just open my heart, ;) right?

I know, even if we know each other from 2009, they will doubt our relationship because we only dated May 2010, and got married Sept 2010 and I know, it's too soon.... but we always say, why do you need to wait for so long? some couple will wait for a while before they get married, but they are not us. right?

At least you are in Canada with your spouse. There may be a long wait, but you will be together during this time. So you have all this time to further show your relationship is real. Just continue developing a good relationship with his kids and grandkids - that is an important aspect of the relationship that the visa officer always asks about.

We know each other for a year then we dated for a year as well before we got married, and we waited for almost a year till i give birth before we sent our application. things are doing well so far, i'm still in canada...but we decided to apply outland for we know it process quickly than inland..coz, i dont have to go back home as long as i got a temporary resident permit..i assumed you already apply inland..that will take longer for sure, you just need to have alot of patience..i'm just hoping you sent them good enough to prove your relationship...just to share this we sent our same home ownership or address, joint account sent them pics including those 2 years past before we send our application, and ofcourse our current pic. if you gonna have an interview, just be prepare if you know your husband well there's nothing to worry..just funny how I remember when we were just filling up our application, i'm the one who actually type everything I don't even have to ask my husband what to write, I guess i'm just a nosy wife that knows everything about him...its all about knowing your spouse and his background if its possible from the day he was born..it's just a pointer for you that might help you for your interview ;)

Hello! I just learned today from one of the Inland Applicant's that I can submit more proofs after I submitted our application last Nov. If I only knew about that I could have sent them a gigantic photo album. I could have sent them pictures from Christmas last year, cards from his daughter's , cards from the Philippines as well. Our recent trips this year! The thing is they should have ask for it, but they didn't. They just sent our application to Edmonton. so, so, so, frustrating! ;(
