I mailed my study permit application two weeks ago to New York consulate and my school starts in early January. Does anyone know the current processing time in New York? I 've read some postings here about that it takes really long to get the passport and visa back which makes me really paranoid now.

Thanks!

You can easily wait without worrying till Mid December, post that you can try emailing them or calling them up.

Also check this link: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/awaiting-passports-from-canadian-consulate-in-new-york-t65126.0.html

PS. I was checking a few threads on different forums and saw that many people are cursing NY consulate to be the slowest one and people have waited really long before they received any response from them. Even communication wise they are pathetic.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Yea, that is so frustrating. I really hope they can finish processing mine around mid December since I will graduate from the US by that time. I should've just went to their consulate to drop in person cuz i heard i can pick it up in 10 days in that way.

I read that even those people were waiting after 10+ days. I hope you get yours back soon. All the best.

Thank you! It is really bad being IDless since I dont have a driver license in the States and I cant go anywhere. I am wondering if november is not a peak time of the year since school usually starts in September?

Its definitely not a peak time as you said major intake is September only. Yet some consulates will never fasten their services.
