Hi,

I am researcher at Harvard University, Boston. I have applied for a Canadian visitor visa to attend scientific conference at Toronto. I planned to travel on 19th August 2012 and already booked my flight and hotel.

I mailed my application on 30th June and it was delivered to embassy on 3rd July. Since my application exceeded the normal processing time (30 days), I tried to contact the embassy though emails but never received any response. Also send them fax and try to reach them through phone but nothing works.

I am worried since they don’t respond to any of my emails. At this point, I don’t know whether to wait for the VISA or to cancel my flight and hotel to get back at least part of the money. I am even panicked when I read other posts about sending the passport to wrong address.

I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how to reach the consulate/how to get response to the emails. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards,
Vinu

Hi,

Did you receive your visa? May I know where do you stay in US? Wondering how long would it take to receive pp from CHC NYC thru regular mail.

Hope you'll get it soon :)

Hi,

Did you enclose an envelope with ur application? I enclosed Fedex money order for return of my pp but the embassy will mail (I hope they mail it already) it thru USPS first class mail, I wonder how long would it reach to New Jersey for regular mail? :)

Hi Buleg,

Actually I have sent priority mail envelope, but the expected delivery date was on 20th.
However my travelling date was on 19th, so I called the new york post-office and explained the situation.
They helped me to change the priority mail into express mail (I have to pay extra money when I receive it).

It is easy to convince people in post-office than the consulate :)

Hello,

Would you please share the number of the post office in NY?
Thank you!

Hi,

How did you know that your application has been finalized? Did the embassy send you an email? May I know their message in the email if you don't mind?

Highly appreciated :)

Hi,

I have submitted my TRV application at the Canadian consulate in New York on Monday, 20th August 2012.
I was told that the decision will be announced on Thursday, 23rd August 2012.
The only reason for me to come to New York all the way from Iowa was to get the passport as soon as possible. I'm now concerned about my passport as I do not have any track of it. I was not even given any receipt at the consulate after submitting my application for TRV.
I have submitted a paid USPS return envelope to be mailed to me as I cannot go to the consulate on Thursday.

I am planning to visit consulate in New York to get my passport, as I do not have any proof of my application (like receipt #) what should I say there? What all details or documents they may ask me to provide?

Any Help truly appreciated.
