I have applied for a work permit with an LMIA, as a US citizen for a temporary position in Quebec. I submitted my application about four and a half weeks ago. The site says the normal processing time is 3 weeks, but of course there are delays due to the pandemic. I can't get through to anyone in the government who can tell me approximately how long these delays should take. I just want to know if I should prepare to wait another week or another month..

Has anyone else gotten a work permit application approved in this time?

Thanks for your help!

No one is going to be able to tell you if it will be a week or a month.

Well, that's too bad... it'd be nice to know if my wife and I should start looking for a new US apartment to settle in for a few months. I'm not looking for an exact answer. I just want to see if anyone else is in a similar situation.

I’d expect delays with the millions unemployed right now . It’s not normal processing times

Does the IRCC handle unemployment too?

No.

The current posted processing time for work permit apps from the US is 8 weeks, so with pandemic delays, expect it to be longer than that.

Well, if that is any help, I applied for WP with the GSS program, which means that processing time supposed to be under two weeks. It was in early march and right now I'm in week 11 waiting for my two week processing and starting to lose hope.

I would recommend planning for processing to take 3-4 months. Of course you may be approved sooner. It's extremely difficult to tell you what to expect given current circumstances. All processing times are out the window.

Any updates on your application ?
Were u able to give bio metrics ?

Thanks Ilunte-- Which country you applied from and which category of work permit ( Intra company/LMIA) ?

My application status is still "Submitted". I gave biometrics on March 11, before everything shut down.

Hi any update with your case? Mine is submitted Mar17 and Biometrics done and Submitted Mar19 under IMP Reciprocal Employment so hoping 2 weeks processing(expected to be much more longer due to pandemic) I am hoping to be process much more quickly than normal processing times (39 weeks from UAE).
