Applying for PNP doesn't change anything, but I think you mean what option would have if your application is approved under PNP, most if not all PNP requires a candidate to be employed at the time of application. The support letter you will get after approval will be linked to your employer, making it close work permit. I think you should just wait till you get CoPR

Obviously you didn't read the article. Yes, it might change a lot now

Hello, would someone please clarify?
If I'm on a closed work permit which is valid until 2026 , will I be able to apply for an open work permit once I aply for PNP?

That's interesting!
I'd like some detailed info too.
Does anyone know anything?
How long does it take for the province to issue that letter of intent that's needed? How does a province "screen" the aplicant and how long does it take?
How long will that OWP be valid for?

Yeah, those are the questions I don't know the answers too...

Also the most important question is how long the processing of that OWP will take? IRCC as of today shows 119 days for processing WP from inside Canada, is that approximately accurate and will that apply to processing OWP application once applied for the PNP?

From what I understand this is Provincial Nomination either ITA or NOI. From what I have seen BC is the fastest- Between 1 to 3 months. Manitoba up to 9 months. ON and others have been around 4-6 months depending on stream
You just have to through the regular PNP application. You will have to check with your Province's website.
My guess the OWP will probably be between one or 2 years because that seems to be the average time to get PR after you apply.
Someone asked how long it will take to process. I couldn't be sure. But at least when you apply you will be on implied status and can continue working.

Thank you for replying.
The point is to get that open work permit bc I'm struggling with my current employer.
Do you know how long approximately processing of the work permit will take? Does that time shown on IRCC apply to this (119 days currently) or is that something else?
Thank you

I have called IRCC and OINP regarding this new policy and they dont seem to have accurate information on this.. its really challenging for me at the moment.
if the PNP candidate has a employer specific support letter, can they still apply for the open work permit?
IF ANYONE has a answer to this puzzle will be really helpful.
THANK YOU
