This is really confusing. CIC had been promoting the CEC as the way of the future, and in January reduced the eligibility criteria to allow everyone with 1 year experience to be eligible. It is obvious that that was going to increase backlogs. So now they're capping it. Really weird.

Not to mention you can't work for more than 4 years on a work permit. Very specialized jobs are going to be hard to fill.

How's that? Presumably the really specialized jobs have fewer applicants.

Canadians expect their skilled migration policy to address labour shortages, and I guess from that perspective today's announcement is an improvement. But I fear it will disappoint a few people on here who have done the work experience and have spent time and money gathering documents, language tests, and so on.

I wonder how a person would check the cap of a NOC?

It looks to be that they want to encourage high skilled Jobs like NOC 0 and A but want to slowly stop NOC B from CEC.
This could be because CIC might be thinking that NOC B type of skills can be acquired by anybody and hence don't need to get new immigrants to get that job done.

It will definitely break lot of dreams.
It is very bad because CIC did not give any time to people affected by this decision.

No way to check. You just have to apply and wait to see if you get AOR. If cap is reached your application is going to be returned together with the fees.

You can work more than 4 years in NOC 0 and NOC A occupations. My guess is that CIC's intention is to limit CIC to higher skilled occupations only

My application was received today and signed by some guy named Mike Conn... Should I print all this stuff just in case? I know they received it today but it is 1 day difference lol... They might just leave stuff for tomorrow and then I am screwed... Feel sorry for people who sent their application let's say yesterday and now it is all probably going back to them... sooooo unfair... there had to be a warning or something...

Not when it's classified under a noc code. Unfortunately some specialized jobs get clumped together with non specialized ones in the NOC directory.

There is no need to record anything. First, they are not going to cheat you on the day it was received because it is recorded, secondly , in case they put your lock in date as Nov, 9 and refuse your application you really have no way to contest it except by launching an appeal (very long process) or sue them in court of law (even longer process and we already know how FSW and other litigations did in the past). Will you be ready to do so?
So just sit tight and wait, I am sure it will be OK. Once you get an AOR , treat yourself to one of the casino's, you are a real lucky one :)

Hi Everyone,

I applied under NOC Code 1311 and received AOR on October 27, 2013. Is there anything for me to worry about?

Six occupations will no longer be eligible for the CEC starting November 9, 2013:

cooks (NOC code 6322);
food service supervisors (NOC 6311);
administrative officers (NOC 1221);
administrative assistants (NOC 1241);
accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311); and
retail sales supervisors (NOC 6211).

Also NOC B occupations will have 200 limit.
Each NOC B or all B 200?
