New TRV measures from IRCC for spouses having sponsorship application

hi guys need some advice please,

I applied for my husband PR spousal sponsorship application in February 2023 till now we are done with SA, medical and biometric.

I applied for his TRV and he got approved and he arrived here on August 9.

Now i am confused should i apply for his work permit or wait for PR approval.

Please if someone can give some advice i would appreciate that.

TRV gives him maximum of 6 months of stay or whatever was approved at the port of entry (did he get a stamp with date or visitor record?). If PR would not be approved by the time the allowed period is up, he'll have to leave. Applying for OWP gives him the possibility to stay longer.

If you are not in Quebec, it's quite possible that the PR will be finalized before next February, however, this is never 100%..

If money isn't a factor, I would recommend to get OWP early, first this will assure he's allowed to stay longer if PR is delayed, he may start to work and may qualify for health insurance (depending of your province and local rules).

OWP is reported to take 4-5 months to process. Applying late has a drawback that if returned (due to error or something) may put his status at risk.

You can't flagpole. It's explicitly said that spousal OWP is online only. It was recently reported by those who tried that they were denied OWP citing this rule.

Be advised, that while doing "flagpole" your spouse can potentially be denied entry to Canada.

How long is it taking to get an AOR after we submit spousal PR application .
Also, do we need a marriage certificate for spousal application or it need to be compulsorily be a court marriage?

Secondly, during a spouse's visit to Canada, if my spouse receives PR approval, then does she has to travel to her home country and re-enter?
Lastly, has anyone conducted their PR medical in Canada? and how much does it cost?

In my case, it took about 60 days to receive AOR. If you are married, then need a registered marriage certificate translated into English.

Well, I don't have previous rejections, but in my opinion, since the rules are changed and seemed modest, you should have another try.

Yes, people have. There are multiple threads and comments about this.

Asking incredibly vague 'has anyone done this' open-ended questions usually gets few responses. Go to the relevant threads, READ THEM, and then see if you have specific questions.

"Has anyone done it" is too broad to get a useful response. Read those other threads and you'll see: some have, for some it worked, for some it didn't, currently there's probably not enough information to tell you what your chances are.

They said it can be processed in as little as 30 days, there’s no strict rule saying it would be. Ours took 59 days.

-TRV you can stay maximum 6 months at a time if the border agent doesn’t stamp a shorter time.
- If your spouse receives PR during this time you just request for VIRTUAL LANDING, they don’t have to go home and re-enter. Don’t forget to update PA address with IRCC once they enter er Canada.
-PR medicals in Canada ranges from 250-300 average, depends on the facility.

We are at 75 days and still waiting. Best to go by the web site processing times as there no guarantees. They said most will be processed within 30 days not all.
