- If you’ve already applied for a visitor visa
Step 1: Email us at IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca to tell us
- you have an application in process
- how you applied for your visa — online or by paper
- your application number
- your unique client identifier (UCI)
- where you live now (current country of residence)
- how you’re eligible to travel at this timeIf you’re travelling directly from the US
You must be able to provide evidence that either
- you’re travelling for an essentialFootnote 1 (non discretionary) purpose or
- you’re an immediate family member of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is staying in Canada for at least 15 days.
- provide proof as an attachment in your email
- For example, if you qualify as an immediate family member of a Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident, you can provide one of the following:
- a letter of support from your family member
- your birth certificate
- your marriage licence
- a letter from your spouse, partner or parent
- although it’s not recommended that you book travel before you get your visa, if you’ve booked travel, provide your travel itinerary, including your
- flight number
- departing time and location
- arrival time and location
- Step 2: You’ll receive a notification, either via your IRCC Secure Account or in your email, confirming whether your application is approved or refused or requesting more information, so we can make a decision.

3 weeks is not a very long time when it comes to a reply. Unfortunately when you marry someone who lives in a country that is across the world there will often be a separation period. With the pandemic the wait time is likely going to increase. Canada needs to protect their workers so delays are just a reality for anyone applying for anything in the government. Based on your previous posts you only got AOR in February so you have a lot of processing to go. Some countries take over usually over 1 year even before covid.Thank you, yes I dubut this is only for people who applied before April 9.

Good day ,
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Temporary resident visa, eTA, study permit and work permit applications from outside Canada
The Government of Canada is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and any impacts on IRCC clients.
Until further notice, most people can't travel to Canada, even if they have a valid visitor visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA). Foreign nationals, including United States (U.S.) citizens, can travel to Canada only if they are eligible.
So we can keep processing applications from people who are able to travel to Canada, we're temporarily changing how you can apply to visit, work or study in Canada.

Should I create separate GC key for my wife and then apply 'OR"Thanks!!!!
There's no reason the service has to be so poor. There is no pandemic in Sydney NS. They probably haven't had even one case since April. It's a joke. They're sitting at home, giving themselves a paid vacation. 3 weeks for a reply to an inquiry? Other countries are worse? Great attitude.3 weeks is not a very long time when it comes to a reply. Actually Nova Scotia has 1,065 positives, 63 deaths, four active cases and 998 cases of #COVID19 resolved. There's no reason the service has to be so poor. There is no pandemic in Sydney NS. I said virtually none since April. May 1 until now there have only been 100 cases in the entire province. There have probably been 5-10 in Sydney. Cases! And the whole immigration process grinds to a halt? It's a complete overreaction. That it takes months to add plexiglass and hand sanitizers around an office tells you everything you need to know about how efficient they are. You're right, the union only cares about the employees. They couldn't care less about the customer.Actually Nova Scotia has 1,065 positives, 63 deaths, four active cases and 998 cases of #COVID19 resolved.
Even before the pandemic these things took time. It is understandable that it's even slower now. A lot of unions have been very concerned with the health of their workers and many places have been adding things like plexiglass and sanitation stations etc to their offices before fully reopening.
To protect your privacy immigration workers can’t take all your private information home and work on their home internet. Canada’s covid rates were relatively low because people remained at home. Do you realize how many inquiries CIC is getting from around the world and many are repeat inquiries. The work is also not done solely in NS. I also think you are waiting for an answer about your TRV not an email. 3 weeks is not unusual to wait for an approval/refusal for a TRV before covid. There's no reason the service has to be so poor. Oh yes we are so lucky. We should be so grateful they are ... sort of... allowing families to be together.visa is a privilege not a right. one should be thankful at least IRCC is processing visas and allowing international travel .
