Hello, i just received word that the visa post or embassy has requested my wife's passport. Does this mean we are close to being done and if so how much longer?

Depends on which visa office is processing her file - some of them request the passport early on in processing, others don't request it until the file has been approved and they're ready to issue the Confirmation of Permanent Residence. It would help if you could post your timeline and visa office.

It is being processed in Colombia. We were approved by CIC in missisauga and the permanent residence process started in May 2008.

I'm not familiar with that visa office and whether or not they request the passport at the end, or earlier in the process. Sorry. How long has your ap been in process? Bogota's current processing timeline is 6-12 months after receiving the file from Mississauga - so if you're on the shorter side of that timeline, it may be that they request the passport earlier. Hopefully someone who has processed through Bogota can tell you. You might post another thread asking that specific question - indicate in the subject "When does Bogota request passport?", or something of that nature, to capture the attention of any Bogota applicants posting here.

Another thing you might do is check trackitt.com/canada-immigration-trackers/family-class/. It's a website where people can track their application processing timelines, and it will show dates for when the passport was requested. You can also do a search by visa office, so maybe someone there has an ap in process in Bogota and has info about when they started the process, when the passport was requested, etc.

hello everyone,
Our application is being processed in HongKong right now. The Sponsorship application was been approved by the CIC-Mississauga last March 2008. I received the confirmation letter from the Canadian Consulate, HK last April 2008; end of July I got mail to provide some additional documents for them like my police clearance and the receipt that my husband paid. I did all the things to be done and sent back to them last August. So far, no news yet from our application. Sometimes you can't help to be depressed while waiting for our application.
PLEASE ADVICE!!! ANY INFORMATION will be of great help for us. Thank you very much...

bubulah,
Maybe try starting a new thread as this thread is dealing with a time-line and visa office question from JM. You probably will get someone helping you quicker! Good luck!

Thankz for the advice Canthai, i tried checking on the E-CAS yesterday, and luckily it shows our application is "IN PROCESS" hope everything's turned out smoothly by this time... Gotta wait a little bit more i guess. Besides i don't know anybody working on the immigration or MP... Maybe i got to wait my time, when will they give my PR Visa.

Thankz again & God Bless!!!
