New spousal TRV

I have a question, my spousal visa application has been submitted and we're planning on applying for a TRV soon. We recently found out about the new spousal TRV but we cannot find any info on how to actually apply for it?? Is it just the regular IRCC portal for a visitor visa?

There is no new TRV it is just the standard TRV. The applications are just assessed differently. There isn’t a guarantee of approval but a much better chance of approval while most would have been denied before the change. You should still attach proof of funds, property, etc.

I thought one of the reasons the new spousal TRV measures were introduced were specifically to mitigate this issue of "you won't leave Canada"?????

No new TRV same old TRV. The change is to how spouses are assessed. There isn’t a guarantee of approval for all spouses but a much higher rate of approval. Approving spouses will allow Canada’s labour pool to grow without placing additional strain on housing and minimizes separation time for many spouses which was one of the complaints of the sponsorship program. When processing was typically 1 year many spouses ended up being separated for long periods of time which was a major complaint.
