Hello everyone,
I am asking on behalf of one of my coworker.
He is a cook on closed work permit and we are wondering if he can apply for a SOWP for his wife?
Per IRCC website TEER 4 and 5 are eligible provide they are not low-wage.
We are a little at loss here.
So do you know if a cook is eligible to apply for his wife's open work permit?
Thank you very much.

TEER 3 is eligible and some jobs under TEER 4 are eligible too, provide they are not low-wage.

As said before you have already answered your question. Given the high cost of living the government wants to ensure that a family can themselves based on their current income without government support (or support through a non-profit). That is why there is a differentiation between high and low wage.

What does that mean? I work at BGIS as Bilingual facility service coordinator - would i be eligible for PR?
The thread is about SOWPs and whether eligible if spouse is a cook. What does your question have to do with this thread.

So does a 52k TEER 4 annually be eligible? How much money would a TEER 4 have to make to be eligible?

Who is not eligible at this time
Spouses and dependent children of workers in a TEER 4 or 5 job under the low-wage stream, the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program and the Agricultural Stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program are not eligible at this time.

You may find the stream or program the principal foreign worker has been hired under by looking at the labour market impact assessment approval letter provided by the employer.
