Hey mates,

Has anyone heard about this http://citizenshipcounts.ca/citizenship-act-changes
I am planning to land in July just to get my PR card and then return home for a couple of years before I move permanently. Would that be ok ?

Citizenship and being a PR are two different things. Lots of people don't become citizens of Canada . What you do have to do is make sure you are in Canada 3 out of the five years to maintain your PR... and be careful that Canada don't change the rules and time frame. If you are living outside of Canada with your Canadian spouse or partner this will not affect you.

Would you please explain what you mean by this statement ?

To keep PR status we need to stay 2 out of 5 years in Canada. To apply for citizenship we need to stay 4 out of 6 years in Canada.

When you leave a country and you want to come back and you are limited to a timeframe, it is always best to keep in touch with Canadian immigration. From time to time they change things around with citizenship time lines..

How do you suggest that I keep in touch ?, I always look at their website

That's a good way to "keep in touch" - checking the CIC website, whether for citizenship or PR requirements. :)

is there any difficulty to get citizenship or PR renewal if someone moved ...

Hi
is there any difficulty to get citizenship or PR renewal if someone moved from manitoba to other province without completing the condition of staying 2 years in Manitoba. .

With thanks. ..

Better to stay in the nominated province until we get citizenship.

Do you have a source/reference for this condition?

A permanent resident of Canada is free to live and work anywhere in Canada.

What 2 years conditional residency are you talking about?

Got PR through pnp Manitoba, can move to other province before 2 years. .

When we apply for pnp in Manitoba , there is condition to stay in Manitoba for 2 years...

So can i move before 2 years...

With thanks

I'm not seeing this 2 year condition anywhere? Do you have a link?

(Hint: I don't think it exists, but am very willing to be proved wrong! ;) )
