Hi, I am a PR of canada. I am planning to sponsor PR for my wife and daughter this month through spousal sponsorship.

One of my friend told me that there is a new process for Spousal sponsorship, where in I can initially sponsor a temporary PR visa for my wife and daughter, which they can generally get it relatively faster, around 3 months time. Then my wife and daughter can land in Canada as a temporary PR and they can stay with me. And he also told me that in this process, my wife and daughter will become permanent visa holders after 2 Yeats of stay in Canada as temporary PR.

I have googled for it. However, I could not find any Info about this process? Any idea about it?

Thanks in Advance,
Sridhar.

Don't believe it. That's not accurate info. A temporary resident visa, she can visit you if approved. Depending on what country your wife is from, she may not even need it. However, it doesn't speed up the PR process at all, which takes way more than three months. Not sure how long it would take to get a TRV, which are near impossible to get from what I hear, especially if you are married. Check the link : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp. So don't expect much for a least a couple months if you go outland. I'd start researching on the website and read the guides as they are very helpful. If they are approved, your wife will likely be under a conditional PR for two years, meaning she must live with you for the next two years. I''m not sure about your child though. They are PR after a few months to a year at most for outland, not the 2yrs. Your friend is confused. The website and this one will explain it to you.

your friend is either lying to you, is misunderstanding the differences between a visitor's visa and permanent residency or is confused by the different stages in the PR process. there is no "temporary" pr, nor is there a family class pr stream that only takes 3 months for approval.

I think his friend is talking bout condition 51. But you're right, it's not 3 months..it's still 8-10 months depending on where they are.

Also, it doesn't mean he won't be a PR for an additional 2yrs either. I think it's another case of 'well I heard so and so's best friend's girlfriend did this so it must be true' like we all get. Ugh, poor thing. I try to take this advice with a grain of salt. If it's on here, I tend to trust it though ;) .

I think he's talking about the new(er) way of processing OWP's, that are submitted along with "inland" applications for PR, which unto itself as stated has not been changed.

It sounds like outland (coming to Canada), the inland pilot project (3-4 months), and conditional PR (2 years) all mashed into one confused jumble.

So individually, those things are true, but they cannot be combined into a super convenient program. None of the Cs in CIC stand for convenient.

LOL ;) it is a lot to take in so it is easy to get it all jumbled. When I first started out, it was so intimidating. However, this site and it's members were extremely helpful.

Thanks a lot for the information. I always get useful replies from this forum.

I will be sponsoring PR for my wife and daughter in a couple of weeks. Just wanted to clarify before I file it. Thanks again.
