Hello everyone, I have a quick question. This is for my Wife's PP application.
It says she needs 1 Guarantor and 2 references.
Guarantor should be Canadian citizen only?
How about the reference, they should be Canadian citizen or can be any one?

Do references have to sign any documents or just name and details we need to provide?

Thank you for the help in advance.
References do not have to sign anything

Thank you for your answer. Do they have to be Citizen or anyone is okay for reference? Like my friends who are PR?
According to the application details, only the guarantor needs to be citizen. They just mustn’t be someone from your family.

References
You need two references for your passport renewal or new applications. Your references must:

  • have known you for at least:
    • two years for passport applications
    • six months for Certificate of Identity or Refugee Travel Document applications
  • not be your guarantor
  • not be a family member
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • agree to you using their name and contact information for your application

I submitted application for Canadian passport today in person at Passport Canada office and opted for pickup with an additional CDN$ 20 fees. They gave me a pickup date which is exactly after 10 business days.

My question : Is there any chance that the passport maybe ready 2 or 3 days before that date or will it be ready only on the given pickup date? I am living only 2 km away from the passport office. So it is not at all a problem for me to go 2-3 days before and find out. But do they entertain such enquiry before given date and will they allow me to pick up if ready? Also what are the chances that it may be ready before date?

I got the guarantor to fill in the form in advance. After I received the citizenship certificate, I updated and printed only that page.
So the date your grantor signed and dated is before you became citizen right? Does passport office accept this?
