NEW or OLD Citizenship LAW

Hello ALL,

I would like to send my citizenship application in May 2015.

When I submit my application, does anyone one which regulation will be used to see if I am eligible to apply? Is it C-24 or the one before C-24 (old law)?

That is depends when the residency requirement of C-24 comes into force.
Let's see if it will be effective on Jun 19, 2015, then you can apply based on old laws.

So basically, as long as if you apply before the new law is enforced, the reqs. will be based on the old law?

If I'm not mistaken, once the new law is implemented, eligibility requirement for Citizenship will be raised. However the major concern is the unlimited powers granted to the immigration officials & minister without access to the court of law. Even with the best intentions unlimited powers and unquestionable authority without the fear of judiciary scrutiny its open for abuse. Undoubtedly, criminality and fraud are just inexcusable but let our judiciary decide, not an untrained official in haste / biased who may end up destroying innocent families.

until they change that online calculator, old rule applies
