For all those who wondered why the rate of medical requests has slowed down over the last few months, here is the answer:
New medical inadmissibility operational bulletin : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob504.asp

Interesting information, but I don't see how it would influence the rate of medical request, I could see it would influence the next step after
the medical evaluation is done, but not before....

Same thought here.
I interpreted this new bulletin as a sign of higher health standard in order to avoid the possible increase of health care burden...

Anytime there is a change in program standards or requirements, people need to be retrained, work slows down for a bit, etc. As well, this time of year, there can be a slow down until April 1 (new fiscal year), esp. if a program has reached its quota...

Exactly...Let's hope that next week things will speed up. The waiting time is a killer...

The increase in the threshold for Excessive Demand (It went up about $200 from last year) has no effect on medical processing or any preceived slowdown in the issuance of medicals.

I was a little concerned when I saw this news.

My spouse was told to be on medical surveillance for inactive TB when she first landed in Canada last year. She was told by the officer at the port of entry to visit the public health office. We did visit the office and were told to take an x-ray. We took the x-ray and submitted it to the public health office. They examined it and sent a letter to us after a week stating that my spouse is discharged from Immigration medical surveillance for inactive TB and the information has been reported to CIC and no further action is required.

Is this something that I should be worried about when I get a medical request for my CEC application?

So what is the average waiting time, ball park figure, that peopla have waited for your go ahead to go for your medical? I've been waiting 6 months now but from what was said about things picking up after April 1st I'm wandering if it could be not far around the corner.

Cheers
