New Instructions from IRCC for applications before 7th Sep 2021

Just wanted to share our experience in getting my mother in law's TRV.

I am a Canadian Citizen. My wife is American and daughter is Canadian.

1st application (GCKEY): August 15, 2021 online from Manila, Philippines
Biometrics Submitted: September 15, 2021 in the US
2nd Application (IRCC Portal): November 27, 2021 online from Manila, Philippines
PPR & BVL: December 14, 2021
VAC: Manila, Philippines
RFT: Reunification Immediate Family

We waited for 4 months through GCkey and took a little over 2 weeks via IRCC portal.

Did you upload new documents and proof of vaccination for the new application?

Did anyone who applied in December got PPR?

I know of 2 refusals personally but no Indian who got PPR

I did see other nationalities getting it

Do you know the reason of refusal? Were those refusals for parents TRVs?

They were both cases of spousal

Reasons were POV, Finances and Home Ties

We did family unification

what other details you mentioned as family unification ? like we didnt meet the parents from so many years or asking them to attend event in canada ?any specific details you mentioned ?

Guys who resubmitted their application with a new portal. It says:
If you already have an application in process
If you choose to apply again, the current visitor visa application will be withdrawn.

So how did you manage to have 2 applications in process?

It is just that the old applications are not withdrawn yet.

Is there any guarantee an application on a new portal will be processed quicker? I mean, what's the reason of creating 2 portals for the same purpose?
Do I need to resubmit the application if it was submitted on Nov 25th on GC keys?

No guarantee at all, we are waiting since October on IRCC portal.
You can wait it out as it has been only a month. Some folks are waiting since 6 months.

Nobody knows what is going on. This is a random fiasco.

Some countries have longer processing time. India visa offices have been very random in processing.
Some of the applicants are getting results in 2 weeks while others are waiting for 6 months. Its doesn't make any sense at all.

one needs luck. some people are getting a decision 3-4 days too

Apply using new portal for sure. there's a timeline attached to it and thats what is IRCC's recommendation too!

Thanks!! I started filling the form on the new portal & stuck at one place. How do I select work activity as Self-employed? I am not able to find the right job title. Any idea what can be done?

Does it let you choose "other" ?
