Thanks guys for sharing the information about the recent change in Visitor Visa. I applied for my parent's visitor visa.
- Date Received: August 2, 2021
- Date of Biometrics Enrolment: September 6, 2021
- Applicant: Mom & Dad
- Visa Category: Visitor Visa
- Uploaded Vaccine Certificate: October 21, 2021
june 7 2021 - applied for regular visitor visa via gckey (country of origin: india)
september 13 - applied for regular visitor visa via portal
october 18 - PPR on the portal application
no updates on the gckey application yet.
I applied for parents regular visitor visa on gckey in june. Then applied again in september via portal. Got PPR on the september application. Anyone have experience withdrawing the older application and getting the fees back ? Are they giving money back ?

My mom got visa for 10 years but my day only got it for 2years. has this happened to anyone else ??

Just updating on my timelines (I submitted my application before September 7 - Aug. 31 to be specific )
I received my passport request letter earlier.
Submission date: August 31 via GC Key (from the US)
Biometrics: Sept. 21
Webform raised: October 18
Passport Request letter: October 21
Purpose of travel: to visit cousin + tourism

Biometrics Completion date: July 20, 2021 (at Chennai)
Second applied through IRCC Portal: Sep 14, 2021
Country of spouse residence: India (TRV applied outside Canada)
Your relation: Spouse - immediate family in India
My status: PR Holder
Current(October 21, 2021) status in GC Key: Withdrawn
Current(October 21, 2021) status in IRCC Portal account: We are reviewing your application. At the bottom "Final Decision" shows - Your application was approved. BVL letter shows it is sent from Ottawa.
Note 1: I know my first July 08th GC Key application was with Delhi office because I submitted a webform to update a document and I was informed in response to it.
Note 2: Purpose of travel we mentioned was: Got married recently and plan to get together and spend time. We mentioned we are plannig any trips within Canada due to covid situation.
Note 3: We showed nearly $10,000 CAD on her account.
Note 4: Travel time: 10 weeks December through Mid-February.
Note 5: I initiated her PR Outland application on October 02 and did not receive any AOR yet.
